Chapter 13

Now what happens?
Keep the complex safe
While all the fighting should be taking place in the forest surrounding the city you live in, it isn't uncommon for rival packs to attack the city bases in times of war. It had happened once when you were a part of the Moonfang, the enemy pack sneaking into the large complex that made up your home. They attempted to slaughter any top or Alpha that was left behind, as well as **** children and bottoms, but they had underestimated their enemy. You still remember the bloodshed, remember your birth father fighting tooth and nail to keep you safe until help arrived. You wish he was here now to help you navigate this situation.
As much as you wish it, your fathers aren't here to help and it's all on you to keep your pack safe right now. You turn to them, taking stock of who is left. You have Dusty, the wolf engaged to the Solar Silence heir. Their arrangement has been put on hold until this situation is handled. He's a strong wolf, only a year older than you. He's never been on the front lines, but he's great for sneaking and spying. If you send him outside the complex, he should be able to hear about any attacks and send word back before you can be ambushed. You do just that, telling him to be safe and return home rather than fight if he's found out. He nods and goes to get his supplies.
Your attention turns to the twins, Rebel and Riot. They're the same age as Dusty, but have been involved in fighting before. They work well together and have saved your own ass a few times while you all were in school. You send them to patrol the perimeters, knowing they can hold off the enemy until help arrives. They eagerly take up their positions, itching for a fight.
Your best friend and one of Khayone's sons, Sam, is a gentle soul, but still one of the few wolves you have to work with. He's been trained to fight, Khayone refused to let any of his boys be left defenseless, but you know how much spilling blood affects him. Better to keep him behind the walls and used as a last resort. You decide to team him up with Henry, an older widow with children of his own, to protect the pregnant and nursing wolves, as well as the children. If the rest of you fall for whatever reason, they'll be the last line of resistance. They should be able to get a message out to the tops and Alphas on the battlefield. Hopefully they would be able to arrive on time to help drive out the invaders.
The rest of the available wolves you tell to patrol the inner walls of the complex, making sure to be available in case Riot or Rebel need backup. They rush off to prepare themselves as Sam, Henry, and the others prepare to lock themselves in the center apartment building, which is the most fortified. Normally the building is left vacant, but you are at war and can't take any chances. The future of the Bloodrose pack depends not only on the battle in the forests, but on you to keep safe and out of enemy hands. Better safe than sorry.
You head for the roofs of the apartments. All of them are connected by bridges the older wolves made when you moved in. Hopefully you can use this position to not only keep an eye on your pack, but also keep an eye on the perimeter and serve as a surprise attacker if anyone breaks into the complex. Now, all you can do is wait.
What happens now? Are you attacked?
