Weiss promised Ruby

“As I promised,” Weiss said suddenly and Ruby turned towards her. “Since you managed to study until we came down here, I’ll go with you to test out your new Dust rounds.”

Ruby blinked.

In all honesty, she had forgotten about Weiss’s deal. To be fair, anyone would have with the magical remote being in their possession. The swaps were fun and all, but Ruby still had a dream of being a hero and defeating the Grimm. That meant she still needed to practice. She also loved weapons and no swap could change that. Probably. She still hadn’t tried to personality swap.

“Right,” Ruby agreed immediately. “I got these new electric Dust rounds I want to try and could use your insight into how to make the best use out of them.”

“I’m glad to see you understand my skills,” Weiss replied. “I would be happy to help.” Yang made a gagging motion out of her sight with a finger. Ruby had to try very hard not to laugh. Ruby waved goodbye to her ‘younger’ sister and Blake, as she and Weiss left. They grabbed their weapons and ammo from their lockers before finding an unused training room.

“Check this out,” Ruby bragged and fired a few rounds from Crescent Rose, which was currently in its sniper mode. The training drones she was aiming at were hit with perfect accuracy and stumbled as sparks of electricity coursed through them.

“Electrical Dust does tend to stun machines,” Weiss agreed. “If you were facing a mech suit, like that time with Torchwick, I could see this being useful. Against Grimm, you might be able to slow them down or paralyze n appendage. For raw damage, your normal rounds would be better.”

“That’s what I thought,” Ruby agreed. “Wasn’t sure if I should try some higher caliber bullets, or maybe purer crystals for a bigger impact.”

“Both would increase the stun effect,” Weiss admitted, thinking. “Higher caliber would allow you to break through armor or material with low conductivity.” She watched Ruby fire a few more rounds and then checked the damage to the training droids themselves. “Your current rounds are already overloading the circuits. Huh, I’m actually surprised at how much damage they do. We might need to try these on actual Grimm.”

“Think we can try sometime this weekend?’ Ruby asked hopefully.

“I suppose so,” Weiss relented. “I wanted to test using Gravity Dust with my glyphs in a more offensive manner anyways. The Emerald Forest would be a good place to try it out against Grimm.”

“It’s a date,” Ruby declared and then immediately covered her mouth. “Oops, sorry. I didn’t mean…”

“It’s fine,” Weiss assured her. “That dunce is probably going to mess everything up somehow and I’ll be back before you know it.”

“I’m sure Jaune is going to show you a great time,” Ruby protested. “Please, Weiss. Give him a chance.” Weiss rolled her eyes.

“I doubt it, but I told you before. I’m giving him this one chance.” She turned to leave. “I lost the motivation to do any training tonight. You’re on your own.”

Ruby frowned and fidgeted with the remote in her pocket.
