Chapter 46 by mjor144 mjor144

What's next?

Meeting Salahea again

Fairy still wasn't conscious. You picked her sweaty body and placed inside your deep pocket. Mindful not to injure her you stood up and looked around. People were still chatting, dancing, eating. Everyone around looked relaxed. Only one eyesight from the crowd seemed to be directly focused on you.

The wyvern girl found herself on your side as soon as you took a first step.

"Looking for me? I knew you'd come around!" She boldly stated.

"Not exactly. Do you know where I can find Arrie? I need to buy some basic stuff."

"Perhaps. What will you give me for sharing this information?"

"Umm..."

"Come on. You can't expect me to tell you anything for free after how you've treated me."

"Alright." You gave up. "How about we walk to Arrie together and have a chat?"

"And then..." Salahea started, but you stopped her from finishing that sentence.

"No thens. I'm still not interested, but depending on how our conversation goes, I might change my mind."

The wyvern offered you her hand in acceptance. You took it and were being led through the crowd.

"How long have you been here?" You asked as you looked at different stalls and tents.

"A week and a half. Camp had maybe half of these people when I arrived."

"What do you mean?"

"We run from all directions to find a peaceful place to rest from insanity of outside world. You would understand if you were from these lands."

Yes, you weren't exactly sure what she meant.

"You don't want to ask about anything?"

She laughed at your question.

"Don't flatter yourself. I'm still interested only in one thing about you. And I'll get it."

"Well, at least you are honest." You admitted.

"Of course I am. Who do you take me for, a filthy, deceptive dragon?"

You looked around, and noticed more kinds of monster girls, kids, elderly. Even some guys.

"Why me?"

She stopped and looked at you seriously.

"You absolutely reek with an unknown smell and it makes me mad. If you could only let me..." She started, but you cut her off with another question.

"Hey, how come there are no demons in here? I thought we are in demon lands now."

She closed to you and changed her volume into whisper.

"This is a refugee camp. All of us here were living inside demon territory, more or less free, but we had a life. That is until general Khaj and Mistress of the South didn't break up and started a civil war."

"What?"

"You are in a warzone, David. All of us are survivors of burnt villages, palaces and cities. All of us fled from the demons."

She said. Before you could respond, she pointed at a tent bigger than most of other ones.

"Arrie's shop." She said.

"Yeah, but what about that civil war stuff? Are we in danger being in here?" You needed to know. If her answer was positive, then you would flee from there as soon as possible.

"You are. All of us are. But the main fight is on the west, that's where their armies are clashing daily. But enough about this, it's such a turn off topic. Can we talk about getting this and this to meet each other?" She pointed at both your crotches.

You sighed heavily. Right now you had bigger things to worry about.

"Not yet. Do you know who set up this camp? Who created this music spell that makes everyone so friendly?"

"Camp was initially just one tent belonging to that halfling that is doing the rounds with his spear." She scratched one of her horns. "As for the other question, people say that the spell is created with a device left by great Rakma the Inventor herself, but they say a lot of stuff. In my opinion it's some kind of artifact or something."

"Okay. Thank you..." You stated at her for a second deciding what to do, still not fully convinced. But you decided to give her a chance. "I'm not going to give you what you want. Not without consent from the other girls in my group, not without knowing each other a little better, and definitely not until I trust you." She dropped her head. She was genuinely sad because of your words. "But I can invite you to travel with us. But I should warn you that our path leads west, and it's going to be dangero..."

"I accept." She said without thinking.

Who do you meet next?
