Diffusing tension

As the four of you walk back towards the docks, Victor seems tense. You glance over at the muscular panther man. “Is something wrong?”

He sighs. “The seer is not normally so…informal. And her outfit. Normally she wears robes, not…that.”

You chuckle. “I guess she knew how to get my attention. Are you two…together?”

He shakes his head. “No, I’m much more of a brother to her. But as she said, I don’t need to be protective like that. She’s hardly a child.”

Ferra glances up at you. “Nicholas, were you thinking of adding her to your harem? She is very pretty.”

Victor seems to stiffen, and you laugh. “That’s awfully forward, Ferra. Normally getting to know someone comes first.”

Alex giggles. “I’m a special case!”

You smile at her. “Very much so. I wouldn’t turn Melora down is all I’ll say right now.”

Seemingly trying to change the subject, Victor looks at the two redheads. “So, what did she mean about one of you being able to take everyone down? I can see that these two are special in some way.”

You nod. “They are. Ferra is who she was referring to. She is a golem, a very special one. And I’ve never seen her equal in combat, which is saying something, considering my family.”

You squeeze Ferra’s hand, and she smiles at you. “As for Alex, she’s an efreet. We rescued her from the engine of a prison ship, and she bonded with me in thanks.”

Alex smiles. “Best decision of my life!”

Victor looks at the three of you. “I see. A life bond with an efreet is a major accomplishment. And I would welcome a sparring session with Ferra, if she’s as good as you say.”

You chuckle. “Gladly. Just don’t be upset if it’s over quickly.”

Victor nods. “I’m not arrogant, I can accept that. As for Melora…all I ask is to let her make the advances. For my own peace of mind.”

You nod. “Of course. It’s not like I’m here to make enemies.”
