The roommate.

Arthur sat on the couch. The apartment was sized for the orcess but he began to notice details that nagged at him. There was a small step stool next to the couch, tucked under the side table, another pair of step stools in the kitchen that could easily be tucked away next to the counter. There was a pair of mirrors next to the door one at Arthur’s newfound eye level and another one at crotch height. Arthur didn’t get to ponder it for long. He heard feet padding around the kitchen but his view was obstructed by the island countertop. The fridge opened and closed and a figure came around the corner into view.

She was short. Even sitting down Arthur towered over her. Her arms were loaded with a pile of snacks so tall she couldn’t see past it. She dumped the pile onto the coffee table and looked up at Arthur, noticing him now for the first time. “Ah! Why are you in my apartment?!?” She jumped back assuming a pose she hoped was intimidating but instead was just adorable. She was a goblin, with dark green skin and pointed ears. She had a shock of short blue hair. She had some serious curves, maybe it was just because she was so short, but her hips were thicc. She was wearing a large tee shirt, big enough to reach her knees.

Arthur held up his hands in a calming gesture. “Kira brought me over. She had to run out for some groceries for dinner.”

“Dinner? She must like you.” She dropped the pose. “How long have you known each other?” She narrowed her eyes, Kira hadn’t been on a date for months. Who was this guy? He was a hunk for sure. He… seemed nice enough though. Automatically better than the last guy she had dated, although that bar was so low it was in the sewers. “We know each other from work.” He fudged, not really answering the question. Good dodge. She’s cute isn’t she? The voice in his head added. Shut up. She narrowed her eyes. “I’m, um Arthur. By the way.”

“I’m Mata. Um, I’m going to watch some tv if you’re just waiting around.” She grabbed one of the step stools and clambered up the massive couch. She settled in and flipped on the tv. It was some trash show, he didn’t pay attention to it. She was cute. Go on, touch her.
