Chapter 13 by globalman1235 globalman1235

Did Ash try out another button before sleeping? If so, which one?

She didn't press another button.

### AUTHOR'S NOTE ###

This chapter is a modified version of a chapter I wrote in the original story.

### AUTHOR'S NOTE: END ###

Making up her mind, Ash decided that she should leave further experiments for the next day and keep things as they were for now. Thus, just like her sister, Ash laid down on her bed and slowly began to fall asleep.

The next morning, Ash and Dawn got up early, eager to start their Kanto journey. After a small breakfast, they returned their room key to Nurse Joy and left the Pokémon-Center. Their destination set, they made their way out of Pallet Town and followed the path through the surrounding fields. After a while, they entered a forest.

"You think we'll find a few new Pokémon in this forest?" Dawn asked her sister.

"Yeah, I think so," Ash replied. "You're pretty motivated, aren't you, Ashley?"

"I just can't wait to catch my first Kanto Pokémon," Dawn exclaimed. "Hopefully it won't be too long until we find one."

"Don't worry, we'll find one soon," Ash assured her sister.

As if on cue, the two twin sisters heard the rustling of a bush on the side of the path. Turning to face it, they saw a small green and yellow Pokémon poking its head out of the leaves. Using her new Pokédex, Dawn found out this Pokémon was a Caterpie.

"Alright! You are going to be my first catch in Kanto!" Dawn exclaimed, sending out her own Pokémon. "Go, Chimchar!"

"Chim!" it called out, ready to battle.

Upon seeing the fire-type Pokémon, the Caterpie retreated into the bush and fled in the opposite direction. Dawn, not wanting to lose her opportunity to make her first catch, began chasing it with her Chimchar, closely followed by Ash. After chasing the small bug-type for a bit, they ended up losing it at the side of a small river flowing through the forest.

"Seems like we lost it, too bad!" a disappointed Dawn said. "You did a good job anyway, Chimchar. Come back!"

"Char!" it said as it returned to its Pokéball.

"You'll get it next time, Ashley," Ash said, trying to cheer up her sister.

"Thank you, Dawn," Dawn said, smiling at Ash.

"Let's follow the river for a bit," Ash proposed. "It seems like a nicer way through the forest than the path."

"Alright, good idea!" Dawn agreed.

As the two followed the river through the forest, they enjoyed the beautiful scenery while also looking for any wild Pokémon that might be nearby. Not long after, they could see a part of the river bank that was lined by many larger rocks. On one of these rocks sat a girl that Ash was familiar with, at least in her original life. As the two sisters got closer to the rocks, they could see that the girl was dressed in a yellow top and short denim shorts, held by two red suspenders strapped over her shoulders. She wore red and white sports shoes and her orange hair was held up in a side pony tail by a blue hair band. The girl was currently fishing and didn't notice the two sisters until Dawn approached her.

"Hey there, any luck yet?" Dawn asked the girl.

"Oh, not yet, but I haven't been here for too long either so I'm still pretty optimistic," the girl answered.

"That's good to hear," said Dawn. "My name is Ashley, by the way, and this is my twin sister Dawn."

"Nice to meet you! My name is Misty," she told the two. "By the way, how did you even get here? This place is pretty far off the path."

"My sister wanted to catch a Pokémon, but it ran away and we lost it at the river," Ash told Misty. "We then decided to follow the river and got here."

"Do you mind if we keep you company for a bit?" Dawn asked. "We could really use a break from that sprint."

"I'd be glad if you did," Misty told the two sisters. "If you want, I have a spare fishing rod you can use."

"Oh, I'd love to. Thank you very much!" Dawn smiled at Misty as she handed her her spare fishing rod.

Ash and Dawn sat down on some of the rocks next to Misty, who then explained to Dawn how to use the fishing rod. Once Dawn had successfully cast out the rod, the three began to talk about where they were from and their respective goals. Meanwhile, Ash thought about the remote again. She might get some interesting results from using it on Misty, so she was considering doing just that. However, she could also just enjoy the time they spent together for now and use the remote another time.

How did Ash proceed?
