Swap: Lives

This chapter is a modified version of a chapter I wrote in the original story.

Ash decided that she wanted to swap lives again and so, aiming the remote at Nurse Joy without her noticing, pressed the green button.

In an instant, Ash found herself in a completely different position. Examining herself, she saw that while she still had the body of Dawn she was now dressed in Nurse Joy's signature uniform, her hair styled exactly the same as Nurse Joy normally did. Looking towards the stairs, where she had been standing mere seconds ago was now Nurse Joy, dressed in Dawn's black and pink dress and dark pink scarf, pink boots and black socks as well as her white hat. Her hair now had both the length and style Dawn normally kept hers in and also sported her two yellow hair clips. Both outfits were re-sized for the bodies they now covered as reality had adjusted.

When Nurse Joy in Dawn's life noticed Ash looking in her direction, she gave a friendly wave and came over to the desk Ash now found herself behind.

"Good evening, Nurse Joy!", she greeted Ash, "I see you're finally able to get some rest."

"Ah, good evening to you too.", Ash answered politely, "Yes, my shift just ended, so I'll return to my room in a bit and try to get a good night's sleep."

"Yeah, I guess I should be doing the same thing," Nurse Joy replied, "I actually don't even know why I came down here in the first place, so I'll be heading back upstairs. Anyway, have a good night, Nurse Joy!"

"Thank you and I hope you do too.", Ash replied as Nurse Joy was already headed back to the stairs. With that, Ash made her way to Nurse Joy's, now her room.

Once inside 'her' room, Ash sat down on her bed and examined the room. That was when she noticed a peculiar photo that hung on the wall opposite of her bed, just over a small table with a vase of flowers. Curious, Ash got back up to take a look at the picture and was astounded by what she saw. It was a photo of Nurse Joy's family, which in and of itself wouldn't be out of the ordinary, if it weren't for the fact that every Nurse Joy in the photo looked exactly like Dawn. Seeing this, Ash realized the ripple effect her swap with Nurse Joy had. As all Nurse Joys looked the same and she swapped into the life of one of them with another body, they now all looked exactly like Dawn.

Ash couldn't help but laugh at this. She didn't expect something like this to happen, but was glad that it did. Having seen once again just how powerful the remote was, Ash decided to get ready for bed and keep further experiments with it for tomorrow.
