No secrets

You make your way to the throne room to speak with your father. As you walk in, you’re surprised to find him there without any attendants or petitioners. He smiles as you approach, with Yura and your mother waiting beside him.

“You’re here, Nicholas! Good, we can get started!”

You look around. “Get started? What’s going on?”

He smiles, shaking his head. “Sorry, I’m getting ahead of myself. Yura came to me and told me you were coming. I know why you’re here.”

You sigh. This was another problem. It was basically impossible to keep a secret, or surprise anyone. Though he never meant any malice with it, your father generally knew what you were doing. Still, that made this easier.

You approach him, still a bit confused. “You’re going to have to explain, dad…”

He nods. “Again, sorry. When you were born, there was a prophecy about you that I was given by my predecessor, Bast. And you’re the first among your siblings to show a desire for adventure.”

You nod. “I don’t want to live in your shadow. I want to make my own way. But how? You’re the ruler of all these lands, literally a god emperor!”

Josh nods. “It’s true, our land is tame now. But there is an adventure awaiting you. You will cross the sea, seeking out other lands.”

You blink in surprise. “Other lands? I didn’t know that was a thing!”

He nods. “Daigo, Maya’s father has been there, though he claims that it would be a perilous voyage. I think you’re ready, although it will be dangerous. Will you do this?”

You nod, immediately. “Of course!”

Your mother smiles, speaking quietly. “You definitely take after your father. He has a bad habit of rushing into danger as well.”

Josh chuckles. “And all of you remind me how dumb it is.”

Looking back to you, he smiles. “Well, you’re in luck, we have begun preparations already. However, there’s several things you need first. Follow me, please.”
