For a while

He lets the child play Fortnight by himself for a while, and as the knight goes on he starts to relax, thinking he is in the clear. Right up until it was time for bed.

"Billy, its time for bed!" Andrew called for the boy from the living room. The boy had gone up upstairs about a half hour ago, and had been suspiciously quiet. Andrew had thought about going up to check, but had decided that is the kid wasn't breaking anything, he wouldn't bother him.

Andrew starts walking up the stairs to Billy's room. "Billy" Andrew says as he walks in the room. "Your parents said bedtime was 9, and its 8:55 now, you need to get ready for bed." He looks around the room looking for Billy. "I want to play one more game!" Billy says from the doorway. When Andrew turns around, he sees Billy holding a small bundle of rope. "I want to play Cops and Robbers!" Billy demands.
