Derrick, Age: 23, and No One Special

Derrick looked on unimpressed with the app that was almost done downloading.

It just had to be one of those "Collect a harem" games he'd seen on the play store. The graphics looked decent enough he admitted but otherwise his interest was minimal.

Standing at 5ft 10 in a white t shirt and gray jogging pants he cut a decent figure. Nothing crazy though. He'd always been the sort to just fade into the background. All throughout high-school he'd mingle with various groups but never really fit in anywhere. Thankfully he hadn't been bullied but he'd also never connected to anyone either.

Focusing back on his phone Derrick saw the download was complete. Flipping through the menu he saw that the in game currency was called "Love points" with various perks for the player to choose from to upgrade their experience ranging from health and wellness to more aesthetic things like appearance. There was also an item store for various buffs.

Getting out of the tutorial boxes Derrick was hit with an alert.

How nice of them. They certainly were accommodating their new users but Derrick still expected Pay to Win to come up eventually. Still he had nothing better to do so why not go along for now?
