I Choose You!

You can Pikachu have by now reached Kanto Route 1. Oak has lent you his rubber gloves in case Pikachu shocks you again. You have tied Pikachu a lease and are dragging it behind you.

"How do I get you into my ball?" you ask.

It was then that the Pokedex talks to you.

"While most Pokemon travel in Pokeballs, some don't like being confined"

You remove the lease and gloves but Pikachu still doesn't seem to like you very much, presumably because were dragging it about in the dirt. In fact, he seems to have scratches. You decide to get him healed once you've reached a Pokecentre.

Shortly afterwards, you find a Pidgey and check your Pokedex.

"Pidgey is a Flying-type Pokémon. It is gentle, easy to catch and a good choice for a beginning Trainer"

"Alright, I'm gonna catch my first Pokemon" you say, "Pikachu, attack"

Pikachu instead climbs up a tree.

"Oh come on, you're suppose to fight. Fine, I'll do it myself"

You take out a Pokeball and throw it at Pidgey. At first, Pidgey is drawn inside and it appears you've successful caught it. Unfortunately, it escapes your Pokeball.

"To capture a Pokemon, you must normally have your own Pokemon weaken it first" the Pokedex explains.

Pikachu laughs.

"Fuck you, Pikachu" you say.

You try sneaking up on Pidgey with your pyjama shirt. Unfortunately, you miss and the Pidgey flies away.

You notice a Rattata going through your backpack.

You chase it away and consult your Pokedex.

"Rattata a Normal type that lives in the forest"

"But we've not in the forest" you say.

"Occasionally Rattata will emerge to steal food from stupid travellers"

"You saying I'm stupid!"

You throws the Pokedex at a tree in frustration while Pikachu laughs at you. You notices some more Pidgeys nearby and decide to try your luck with them. This time your plan is to throw a rock, knocking one of them out, making it really easy to catch.

You miss and the Pidgeys scatter. However there is still one that hasn't moved. Trying again, you throw another stone, hitting on the head. Unfortunately, it doesn't pass out like you thought it would. Even worse, it turns out that wasn't a Pidgey at all.

Its a Spearow.

"Unlike Pidgey, Sparrow has a bad attitude and a violent temperament, being known for attacking people and Pokémon without warning"

"Oh fuck" you say.

Spearow attacks Pikachu.

"Wild Pokémon are sometimes jealous of those with Trainers"

"Hey, Sparrow, I could be your trainer" you say.

For some reason, you have always pronounced Spearow as 'Sparrow' because you misread the word as a kid and no one explained what it was supposed to say. In fact, you used to pronounce Pokemon as Poke-Mon and spell it as 'Pokermon'.

Apparently, Spearow doesn't think you'd be a good trainer. Spearow knocks Pikachu out of the tree.

Pikachu unleashes electricity at Spearow, sending him falling to the ground. But Spearow is out finished yet. It lets out a loud cry, attracting lots of other Spearows. You and Pikachu make a run for it. Eventually you reach a river and jump in.
