Chapter 19: Love Is Dead
It's still 2021 and some people believe that love is dead.
NYX
She was on the ground thinking. Staring up at the ceiling fan. More thinking. It was another Bible study. The group was gathered in the Miller's home. But missing two members. Friday joined over a video call. She stayed at their home because she was taking care of her and Freya's parents who were sick with COVID-19.
It was during the prayer she was thinking. She was laying on the ground. Staring up at the ceiling fan. The fan spun so fast. It was beautiful and made the room cool. Thinking. They were going to do the name hat thing again. Whoever's name get's pulled out is going to lead next week. It wasn't going to be my name she thought. No way. I don't even believe she told herself. I only have hate. . .
As they prayed. At the end of it. Friday, who had the hat and the names at home. Pulled from it. "Nyx." Friday said. She stood there. Stunned for a fraction of a second. It can't be. Why me? She thought. She regained her composer before anyone noticed.
Later in the week:
Nyx was thinking. Talking to herself. "Why me again, Dawn?" She looked up from the black couch she was sitting on. Dawn stood nearby in the doorway. Dawn smiled.
"I think we both know already. You haven't as you so claim to have defeated all the goodness in you. Even though some of those virtues were from Christianity. And I think you know or we know that-"
"We still believe sort of," Cin stated. Cin entered the room with the Trinity Demon at her side. Cin raised her right hand and snapped with her fingers. A song started. To the Edge of Silence by Atom Music Audio.
Dawn, then spoke again."When we made our promise. To follow God forever. We did so that we could also hopefully see our grandfather again. Because if there is just a small chance to see fallen friends and family. Religion or Christianity, the truth over all the others offers that. We also were inspired by a singer from The Voice back in the day. Christina Grimmie. She was a believer. She died. But before she did. You or we loved her. She inspired goodness in us. To be kind."
"But the Christians might betray me. . ." Nyx responded.
"It wasn't the Christians. It was us. We betrayed them. We betrayed our Christian friends and family when we left and ruthlessly attempted to cut them from our lives on social media." Cin interjected.
Nyx snapped her fingers. The song changed. She needed music to help her think. From Beneath The Rubble by Audiomachine. She sat there thinking. "I am. . .Del. . .Delta. . .I am Delta Gold. . .Delta Gold Adams." The other things of her smiled. "I survived sadness. I fought against myself. I resisted evil. A plan that I crafted to destroy the world and to destroy the Christians. I resisted! I CAN DO GOOD! I can choose to do good! I will do more good! Whenever an opportunity comes I won't let it pass. This-" She needed to clarify something. "This doesn't mean I am one of them. But I feel I am one step closer. To coming back actually. To recommitting and honoring one of the first promises I ever made. There are still problems in the church and the church has hurt non-christian communities. There needs to be a change."
"Some may believe love is dead. That this world is so dark. But there is light in it. And the people in it can choose to fill it with more light. There was a Bible verse back in the day about light, the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it." Delta said.
"But this does not mean I have forgotten my other promise to never follow their god. I'll still keep that promise. But I feel like I am less hateful. But this hate to the Christians. Hating myself for doing things that I still consider evil. That is why. . ." Delta/Nyx smiled. "Nyx is not dead. She is just getting started. Stand by me my schizophrenia-selves or perish with Delta's old ways." They were shocked. "You see, every choice I have made since Delta's defeat has been glorious. I am her better. You really thought you could reach her by a speech? You're all weak like her. All those memories we had. All the choices we made. Anything to do with Christianity made us weak. Our so called Christian friend are weak. Of course we won't say this out allowed to them. But that's the truth. They are delusional and they lie to themselves."
"This isn't us! We don't have to be hateful." Dawn began. "We-"
"You're all weak." Nyx replied. Interrupting Dawn.
"No, you're being consumed by hate for God."
"How can I hate something that doesn't exist?"
Cin and Trinity Demon raised their hands snapping with their fingers summoning blades. "I only hate people who lie to themselves about there being a sky daddy. Who use that sky daddy to bully others who don't believe in it. I hate Christian bullies." Dawn summoned hers with a snap. Nyx glanced and Cin and Trinity then at Dawn. "You're all done."
Dawn said, "But our current friends the Millers and the Harrisons are not bullies. They are-" Nyx extended her fangs. Rushing forward. Grabbing Death and Conquest by their throats. CRACK! Snapping their necks in unison. She dropped their bodies to the ground.
"Death to all the living." Nyx said.
"Delta! I mean Nyx! Please, don't do this!" Dawn pleaded.
"This is who I am." Nyx replied. She then dodged Dawn's swing. Closing the gap between them. She then bit her neck draining her of blood. She then turned her attention to Cin and Aezlith. "Three down, two to go. You are both weaknesses. I am not like the weak I am superior. DIE!" A few dodges and punches. A neck snapped. A heart ripped out. Both Cin and Aezlith lay dead. She gazed at their bodies. Thinking. Snapping with her fingers a song started to play I Will Find You by Audiomachine. Tears in her eyes. She began to cry. What have I done? I was a loving person. . .Is the love I had. . .is it dead? Can I be a loving non-Christian? I am sure some can, but when it comes to me I don't think so. . .I have too much hate.
