Geared for a rescue

Misha sighs. “That’s a tough question. I need weapons, and I suppose Sally does too. I need to be able to beat my…the person who took my sponsor. Our sponsor.”

You speak up. “Wait, your sponsor? Like, in the new world?”

Misha nods. “My past came back to get me. Believe me, I’d rather be at home, but I need to find her!”

It’s obvious he doesn’t want to explain too deeply what’s going on. You assume it’s something private or upsetting, but you can see he’s anxious. The harpy beside him, Sally, speaks up. “It’s just the two of us with her, and she’s just a new worlder without any powers.”

Misha sighs. “And we’re on a time limit.”

Hayley smiles. “Well, what kind of weapons do you need? Judging by your builds, I’d say not a mace or an axe, maybe something lighter, daggers or a saber?”

Sanni speaks up. “And do you have any powers yourself? Perhaps I can tailor the enchantments to you.”

He looks hesitant before responding. “I have some time magic. I can slow time, but I’m out of practice, for obvious reasons.”

Sanni blinks in surprise. “That’s…quite the ability. May I lay a hand on you, to assess your power? It’s harmless, I assure you.”

He looks at the lamia for a moment before nodding. Sanni closes her eyes and rests a hand on his forehead. Meanwhile, Marin begins firing up the forge and grabbing some metal. Before too long, Sanni backs away. “I should be able to tailor an enchantment to your power, Misha. However, it will be draining, so don’t overuse it.”

Hayley nods. “I think a set of daggers, then. Fast and precise, to take advantage of your abilities and your smaller frame.”

Helja speaks. “And a crossbow for Sally, as I would imagine wings are a detriment in melee combat.”

Sally shrugs. “I’m not much of a fighter anyway…”

Hayley smiles. “This won’t take long, with Greg helping. You’ll be geared up by the end of the day.”
