Chapter 5 by Gatsha Gatsha

Who had the misfortune to be out here with Kyoko?

Komaru joins Kyoko for a sprint in the storm.

For a brief and terrifying moment, Kyoko was sure the person she'd just hit with soggy cardboard in a historical weather event was Makoto Naegi, her close friend. The thought was enough to make her turn back to help the person up, in spite of the storm.

It turned out what she was sensing was not the young man himself, but a similar energy to his. The woman lying flat on her back in the storm was clearly Komaru Naegi, his younger sister. At the age of eighteen, the young lady was usually remarkable in her lack of remarkability. This was definitely a position that showed off her more remarkable features: while Komaru clawed dark pulp remains from her face where they'd impacted, her white uniform shirt was completely soaked through and her skirt was entirely flipped up, revealing a striped blue-and-white bra and panty combo that was lewdly sticking to the curves of her pale skin.

Not one to be easily distracted by such things, Kyoko reached an arm down and wrapped Komaru's wet arm around her shoulder. "Komaru! What on earth are you doing out here?! Nevermind, can you run?!"

"Y-yeah, I'm fine! Some stupid gunk just flew at me! This hurricane is the wooorst!!" Komaru screamed to be heard, as she shrugged herself free from Kyoko and joined her running alongside.

"Safe," Kyoko couldn't help but mutter to herself. "Komaru!!" She raised her voice, glancing at the other woman beside her. Even for a woman like Kyoko, even in a situation like this, it was hard not to be distracted by the bouncing body of the student next to her. "We're almost at the main building! Hang in there!"

"Kyokooo!! I was just here to visit my brother! Why is this happening to me right now?! My luck suuucks!"

Kyoko wasn't ordinarily pre-disposed to small talk, and she was even less inclined to waste words in a place like this. By this point, the wind was only a concern in that her own wet heavy wet hair kept slapping her across the face. For better or worse, her dark skirt was now sticking heavy to her slick legs. At least her jacket offered some protection. She couldn't help but contrast her fortune in clothing choices to Komaru in that respect. "Turn right! The entrance is right there!!" She felt the need to broadcast it, since even the well-lit main entrance would be impossible to see in this blinding rain.

"Right here?!" Komaru abruptly made the turn.

"Komaru-!" Kyoko gasped, having expected Komaru to move a step more and stay on the outside of the turn. Instead, the two of them were briefly stumbling over each other in a slippery mess as Komaru crashed into Kyoko's back. Stumbling wasn't a position the detective was used to finding herself in, and Kyoko was sure the pain already inflicted to her dignity was about to be visited upon her body as well as she approached the unforgiving concrete pavement.

Luckily, she finally caught a break. For yet another surprise, someone was there to cushion her fall.

Who's the unlucky person in Kyoko's way?
