Chapter 4
by Gatsha
Onward to relaxing spa treatment?
Before the calm, the storm.
The soundproofing effect of the library, it turned out, was more dramatic than Kyoko had realized. Upon opening the door, the detective found herself facing down what felt like a hurricane, with dark clouds, rain, peels of thunder, rain, strong winds, and even more rain. With her hands on the door and her guard down, Kyoko was temporarily powerless to stop a spray of horizontal rain from splashing across her front and an audible wind not just blowing her skirt but temporarily inverting it, flashing her pale, shapely thighs and the pitch-black panties that hugged her hips.
Immediately, Kyoko slammed the door shut and barred against it with her back, half expecting to feel it heave against her from the wind ****. It turned out the library was built sturdy, though, and as long as the door was sanely closed, the storm was safely kept outside. That meant it was time for priority two: Kyoko quickly scanned the library for anyone who might have gotten a glance at her misfortune. Chiaki, somehow, was still asleep in spite of the howling wind that had briefly announced itself to the library. No one was currently at the library counter. "Safe," Kyoko muttered, exhaling a held breath.
That meant it was time for priority three. "I didn't bring an umbrella today. I wasn't counting on this freak storm," the detective admitted, holding a gloved hand to her mouth as she scanned the umbrella rack. The lack of people in the library was a blessing in that no one had gotten a peek at her panties, but a curse in that there were no spare umbrellas available. Kyoko briefly wondered if that had been part of why Chiaki had been so eager to make a kind gesture and take her nap here instead of venturing outside. "No, that's unfair of me. Here I am, doubting her... If she had brought an umbrella, I'd probably be the one guilty of 'borrowing' her property right about now."
Kyoko briefly racked her brain for another solution before taking a deep breath, exhaling, and buttoning up her dark leather jacket. "I could spend more time rousing around here for some method of protecting myself from the rain, or I can tough it out. The building isn't even far from here, and nobody else is going to be out in this weather... Also, I'll be going to a bath immediately, so I'll be out of the wet clothes right away. There's no problem..."
That sounded like a good plan of action, but Kyoko still found herself staring out in hesitation at the storm of the century.
"..."
"This was... a tactical error...!"
Kyoko found herself bounding across the campus towards the main building where the administration desk, luxury, relaxation, and an escape from the rain awaited. She'd found a cardboard box that seemed like it wouldn't be missed, and the time she spent moving books from it and breaking it down into a large, flat square panel made it hard to deny how seriously she'd been taking it. So, for the time being, Kyoko was just barely protecting herself from the worst of the storm. The cardboard was rapidly disintegrating to pulp, but she thought it might make it.
She was safe from the rain. The problem was that the rain was only one issue: her still somewhat-dry skirt was flapping everywhere in the wind, as though that **** of nature had more power over her than gravity in this supernatural wind. Kyoko's dark knee-high boots and pitch-black decorated panties were a sharp framing contrast for her exposed hips. She had to remind herself that anyone out here with her would be hard-pressed to see more than their hands in front of their face, even if they had the presence of mind to. "What about the windows, though? I can't risk it..."
The cardboard wasn't going to help much longer, anyway. Out here, it'd soon be as flimsy as her cool façade as she grit her teeth against the wind and felt her braid and long hair slap all around her face. Finally, she released her shield into the darkness behind her.
With the cardboard gone, the noise of the weather seemed to double, but it wasn't enough to silence the cry that rang out from the impact of the soggy pulp.
Someone was behind her? Out here?!
Who had the misfortune to be out here with Kyoko?
