Flute (Bard) (Chaotic Good)

What to expect: Solving problems with shenanigans, Romance, and a pair of literal Size Queens.

You stroll through the small circular space. Though there is not an immediate answer to how to escape, you don’t feel immediate stress or worry. However you got in here, there must be a way to get out as well. A key, a lever, or some clever trick to open these imposing metal bars, that your strength alone couldn’t budge. You closely study the weapons and items mounted along. Though you are no blacksmith, you can see that most of the items are high quality in their fabrication, although with the different ornamentations and styles in construction, these are clearly by crafted different hands. This could be someone’s personal collection than, leading you to wonder about the person that had braved so many lands to acquire such a stockpile, and why do you have no memory of them and how you got in here.

As you peruse this seeming armory, something peculiar catches your eye. Sitting on the top a shelf was a flute; out of place in such an environment. You share many traits with this instrument in that way. Unlike most orcs, raised in the desolate deserts and mountains, or ‘civilized’ in the dirt and squalor of the lower class in cities, you were actually raised in a well to do family. Your father had actually saved the life of a King, and showed such gratitude by granting him and his descendants a title of nobility, along with wealth and land. You’ve been granted an education and life that most humans only dream of, which has led to no shortage of jealousy and contempt in your direction, including the late King’s descendants.

You take the flute, and you feel a strong sense of familiarity of it as you place your fingers in the correct position and bring it to your mouth. Though it’s by no means flashy in its design, as you begin to play, you recognize it has a superior tone. There are songs in this instrument, just needing a suitable player to help along. You more than fit the bill, having spent no small amount of your schooling learning to play a variety of instruments. The first few notes are a little unsteady, as you find the voice and soul of it. As you do, you close your eyes and let yourself channel your thoughts and feelings through the instrument. You feel compelled to move about the small space as you play, the melody coursing all through your body.

As you bring the song to a close, you hear applause from an audience; one you were not well aware of when you started to play. In one of the halls of the castle, you were the only person on stage, surrounded by dozens of fellow nobles, all in their best dressed and made-up appearances. Among the faces you immediately see as you stop playing and scan the space is King Hector, son of the King Insagn, who granted your family the noble title. Like his father, he had a charitable and hospitable view towards your family, even if he saw you as little more than a delightful oddity. Others you saw was Queen Belvedine, and their daughter, the Princess Trevolia. They are the most beautiful women you’ve ever met, and on separate occasions, you’ve come to know each of the quite intimately. Though the King seems to suspect nothing of your romantic escapades with his family, his son, Prince Varkileus, is far less trusting of you. You suspect he carries much of the animosity and bigotry against orcs found in the rest of kingdom, despite your best efforts to have a good relationship with him. There are a number of other faces you know among the crowd, but the bright glowing smiles of the Queen and Princess eclipse anyone behind them.
