An easy plot device - I mean a Wishing Stone

Inside the box, you see a smooth, black polished stone, about the diameter of a quarter and slightly oblong. Picking it up, you feel an electric energy emanating from it, and feels simultaneously hot and cool to the touch.

On the other side, you see a small inscription that looks like it was etched, written in a different language.

"The fuck is this..." You think.

A quick skim through some of the languages on Google translate reveals that it's just latin (it always is, right?) and translating you realize it simply says "Make a wish."

Incredulous, you sarcastically make a wish.
