Chapter 13 by TheDespaxas TheDespaxas

What is left for him to wear?

Pretty much nothing and it probably won't change anytime soon.

K-T rushed in his room through the open entrance, it was a sad reminder that he no longer had a door on his room. The door of his sister's room had been stuck a few months back and his dad had to break it to get it open. After that they had borrowed his door to replace it, arguing that his sister couldn't be expected to change somewhere where he could stumble on her naked. His pleading of the same argument concerning him had met deaf ears.

It was true that his usually messy room had rarely been so clean. The various cluster of crumpled clothes that were kept out in case of emergency were nowhere in sight and his open closet, usually really sparse, was empty. Shaking down his room, all he managed to gather were a few pairs of shoes, a lone sock that his mother had missed (and would have been in the crusty category she had described) and a baseball cap. K-T rarely owned more than 3 or 4 full outfits, with their tendency to disappear, be stolen, lost or destroyed. His mom's decision of cleaning everything at once made sense since she probably thought that he left the house clothed and would be gone for a while.

He didn't even try to hide himself with the cap or any like that. Everyone downstairs had already seen him like he was and sadly seen him naked too. Being without any cover might help him plead his case with his mother.

He walked back downstairs, his head lowered in shame and despair.

"Mom! It's horrible. There's nothing left! You put everything I had at once!" he told her.

"Of course I did. You take so little care of your clothes that there wasn't a single thing in your room that I could know for sure to be clean." She scolded him.

"We need to get me something to wear. I can't stay like that!" he told her. Even if she accepted, he couldn’t accompany her to the store like he was, so it would probably be her and his sister picking his clothes as it often was, not the most reassuring prospect.

"Really? Just so you can mess with brand new clothes yet again? Do you realize how much you just cost us? I spent a lot of money buying you these already. And now not only do we have to pay to get the washer fixed or replaced, but we will have to lose time and money cleaning our own clothes at the laundromat. Don't think I have more money to waste on clothes that you will mess up. You're 18 now, you're lucky enough that your aunt found you some way to go to college, you should take your responsibilities and buy new clothes yourself." she said, rejecting his plea.

This was a big problem. K-T was constantly broke, his allowance was very little to start with, barely 20$ a month, but his parents often deducted the cost of replacing his clothes from it to teach him a lesson and what little was left was mostly used to buy some clothes that his mother didn't consider necessary expenses already. He had no savings and from what he remembered barely 17$ in cash in his room, at least if none of it ended in the shredder with his clothes. It was not really the kind of money to buy a whole wardrobe, nor even a full outfit, it was barely enough to get something to cover himself.

"With what money? All I have is 17$,maybe less if some of it was in one of my pockets." he asked around. While his mom was clearly pissed, his aunt looked happy about the situation and his sister was on the edge of bursting in laughter, the situation more hilarious than anything she had done to him before.

Does someone have an idea?
