You told him that you’d mastered the creation of chemical agents to create potions and elixirs of all kinds. This leant itself not just to medicines and curatives, but also to acids and even poisons. It was an old art, but one that had seen new advancements in Missionaire, developments that could be used to your advantage.

“Is that a fact? And here I thought alchemy was all healing potions.”

You smiled a bit, before he sighed deeply to correct you.

“That was sarcasm. I know the uses of alchemy, Squire Lavender. You can create weapon ointments, elixirs to bolster one’s strength, or even something as simple as a fine ale. It’s a versatile field. One which I am certain the saintesses will appreciate. It’s an art with origins in witchcraft and has since been married to modern science, used by magicians and doctors alike.”

He raised one finger to undercut the praise. “But do not be so foolish as to believe the demons will give you time to brew healing potions during a battle. Preparation is key.”

That was rule number one of being an alchemist, really.
