Post Samhain (Mearna)

The next morning, shortly after I wake up I go to the kitchen and grab the herbs I bought from the druid recently. The ones that are supposed to help me become more fertile. I put them in some water and get it boiling. I also add a spoon of honey in there to add some sweetness. Once the herbs have cooked, I let the water cool down and drink some of it. Hopefully this will help me to finally have a baby.

Most of the day is spent cleaning up from the feast of yesterday. As I am clearing off the tables, I notice Zayden in the distance. I bring a hand to my lower abdomen and pet my sperm filled lower belly with both a sense of hope and guilt. Unfortunately, Kaileigh eventually shows up and gives me a nasty glare. I guess Zayden must have told her. I better keep my distance from her for a week or two, or even longer.

Two weeks later, when checking out the hives, my dad notices a few of the boxes we keep them in need repairs. So, he takes me with him to the carpenter, Keithan, to let him know what he needs. Keithan is not the only one in his workshop, though. His son, Zayden, is there too, working on a large piece of wood. Perhaps this would be a good time to maybe apologize?

I walk up to him and say, “Hello, Zayden.” While giving him a faint smile.

He looks up from his work and replies, “Ah, … uhm, hi Mearna.”

I sense he is still upset and it makes me feel shy. “I see you’re hard at work.” I say carefully.

Zayden looks at the wood on the table in front of him. “Yeah, it’s from a recently cut tree. I still have to remove a lot of the bark.”

I try to think of the best way to tell him I’m sorry for what I did, but I can’t seem to find the right words. I mean, how do you apologize for something like that. “Sorry for pretending to be your girlfriend and draining your dick.”? I just feel he would respond to a sentence like that with “You didn’t seem sorry when you were doing it.”

Then my dad calls my name and lets me know his business is done here. I guess I will have to apologize to him another time. “See you around, Zayden.” I say after which I take my leave.

Another 2 weeks later, the elders gather all the girls that participated in Samhain. First they ask the girls to show their necklaces to see which ones got had and which ones avoided the guys. I proudly present the one I have with Zaydan’s name on it.

The girls that can present their own necklaces are allowed to leave. Girls like me have to stay a bit longer. The elders make us pee in a little cup, and then they test out urine by tasting it. Apparently, they can tell by the taste if someone is pregnant. In previous years, their answer for me has always been a no. Shall it be a no again? Or will it be different this time?
