“Fuck… fine… what do you need me to do..?” If Private Winters is gonna see sense then she needs to do it the hard way, even if that means poor Gonzalez has to suffer a moment longer.

“I need a surgical kit to suture this wounds… check those cabinets!” Shouts Winters as she does her best to stem the bleeding.

Sarah rushes over to a large line of cabinets and cupboards many of which baring a glass front, allowing Sarah to peer inside.

Many of the shelves hold medicines, Never-Sleep-Pills, Hydr8tion, Naproleve, and half a dozen different pain medications.

Kneeling down to pull open the metal cupboards on the ground for what she’s been tasked with, she finds it, a small rolling pouch with compartment for scalpels, sutures, needles and medical scissors.

Rushing back to the exam table she sets the pouch within reach of Winters who sets about suturing the wounds closed.

“A… am I gonna die…?” Whimpers Gonzales, just barely loud enough to be heard over the din of the sirens.

“N.. no, buddy, you’ll be fine… it just nicked you… b.. but hey, you’ll have some sexy scars for the ladies, huh? You got somebody waiting for you back home..?” Winters is barely holding it together, her voice trembles but thankfully for Gonzales her hands remain steady.

“M.. Mandy… oh… she’s… she’s great…. Y.. you’d really like her Winters… she… she’s got dogs too….” He says, each word a battle in itself but despite it the kid manages a weak smile.

“Y… yeah..? What kinda dogs she got Gonzales..?” Asks Winters on the brink of tears, it’s starting to sink in now.

“Sh.. she’s got a… a husky… n… n… named Maximillian…. And…. And……….. and…..” he trails off, his words coming quieter and quieter until Sarah is positive only his lips are moving until finally those are stopped as well.

Winters takes a step away from the body, her shaking hands drop the scissors and needle to the floor with a barely audible clink, she holds a bloody hand to her mouth as the weight of the young man’s **** hits her and without a word she silently turns and exits the room, leaving Sarah alone with the body.

“Rest easy, son… the nightmare is over now..” says Sarah before she too leaves the room.

“Warning; Impact with planet estimated in… 5… 4… 3…” the ship shakes around sarah as she rushes back to the galley.

She fights with all her might to get stay on her feet, just barely crossing into the room of the galley when the world shakes around her and all goes black.
