You walk into your local X-Change clinic and approach the front desk. Michelle, the clerk at the front desk, whose name is clearly displayed on her name badge, smiles and greets you as you come near. With a smile, you say, “Hello, I'm Charles. I have an Orientation Appointment today.”

Michelle looks up your name and with a bright smile, is able to find your appointment information in her computer. She gives you a printed piece of paper, which details the specific floor and room you are supposed to go to for your appointment.

You promptly make your way to the specified place in the building. It doesn't take too much time, as the clinic is not as busy as you assumed it would be. There is a good deal of people here, ranging from teenagers fresh out of high school to young adults to older people, probably around the peak age of 50, but no one older than that. You open the door to your room and find in the middle is a desk with someone seated behind it. He looks up upon your entrance and says, “Please have a seat, Charles,” gesturing to a single chair in front of his desk.

You sit on the seat provided, making sure to observe the features of the room. There is a window, but whatever sunlight could pour in is ultimately blocked by a thick blackout curtain and blinds. Bright fluorescent light pours from above, which is the main source of illumination in the room. On either side of the room, the walls are basically full-length mirrors that span the entire length of the room. In the corner of the room, there is a photography set-up complete with a flash umbrella and a pink-colored backdrop.

Even as you came in, the technician was busy writing information onto a clipboard. He signals to you he is finished by putting down his pen and giving you his attention. “Mr. Charles. My name is Jeffrey and I'm an X-Change technician at this clinic. I see that you attempted to purchase your first X-Change pill, but since you have not registered with the database yet, you were given an appointment at this here X-Change clinic,” he states. You nod in confirmation. “If you do not know by now, the government has put out a new law that states that anyone who purchases X-Change must be registered with the X-Change Nondiscriminatory Hiring Practices Alliance. In this Orientation Appointment, we give you a sample of the X-Change pill, which transforms you into your female self, but only lasts for an hour. In that time, we take a photo that will be put onto a secondary identification card that must be adhered to your government-issued ID card. Anyone who wishes to purchase any product from a legitimate X-Change retailer must have both ID cards in their possession at the time of purchase. Do you understand, Mr. Charles?”

“I understand, Mr. Jeffrey,” you answer.

The X-Change technician continues, “We also bring in another technician who will check everything is in working order physiologically and give you your measurements, for the convenience of wardrobe purposes. This service comes at no extra cost to you. We will print you a temporary version of your secondary ID card. Once you change back after an hour, you may leave.”

Jeffrey produces a small plastic cup with a small pink pill contained within and another cup with water to wash the pill down. You don't waste any time and place the pill on the middle of your tongue. You chase the pill with the water provided. In no time, you start to feel your body changing. You look into the mirrors and see your hair lengthening, your chest expanding, and your facial features becoming more woman-like. What isn't happening in the mirror, you can already feel. Your hips widening, your body hair receding along your legs and arms, and especially your penis shrinking and seemingly inverting into your pelvis.

The process does not take more than a minute, but it sure does take a lot out of you. You feel woozy, but Jeffrey is there to explain. “You might feel like you're about to faint, Charles, but that is just the one side effect this version of the pill has. For a speedy process, it does withdraw energy from your own body to operate. But it does give us enough time to get the necessary information within the hour,” Jeffrey says and gets to his feet. He rounds the desk and holds an arm out to you. You take it, get to your feet, and grip his arm, trying to find your balance. You already know with this new body your balance is off a bit. He guides you to the corner where the photography set-up is located and gestures for you to sit on the stool. “Feel free to remove your clothes. You may find them a hindrance in your new body.”

You let your pants fall to your ankles and you step out of them. You are only wearing your shirt, which with your smaller body, feels like an oversized dress. Jeffrey offers you an appropriately sized T-shirt for you to wear, but it's optional. Whether or not you take the shirt offered, the technician proceeds to ready the camera for your picture. He goes over to you for a moment to touch up your hair, keeping it out of your eyes, as well as position you correctly so that he can get a decent photo.

“Alright Charles, look into the camera. I'll take two pictures, just to be sure. Ready? 1.. 2... 3... Say cheese!” he guides you and you smile when prompted. He takes a second photo moments after, before getting a tablet from the desk and opening it to show you your photos. You see the female version of yourself. To some, you may look cute, to others, you may look sexy. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, you remind yourself of the popular saying. Jeffrey retrieves the clipboard he was writing on earlier and hands it to you. “Please specify on the indicated section your name for your female identity.” On the section he gestured towards, you write down Charlene as your female name before handing it back to Jeffrey. He looks over the information and goes over to the desk and presses a button on his intercom. He speaks into the speaker, “Miss Charlene is ready. You may send in Lauren for measurements.”

The door to the room opens and in walks a woman dressed similarly to Jeffrey. She takes you by the hand and has you stand in front of the nearest mirror. By now, you feel somewhat accustomed to your new sense of balance and don't feel as nauseous as before. She asks you to strip if you haven't done so earlier. From a pocket of her coat, she pulls out a spool of measuring tape. She places the tape onto and across multiple areas of your body, including your shoulders, your bust line, your natural waist, your hips, your rise, and even your inseam. It feels like she could produce a tailor-made outfit out of your measurements.

Lauren records the measurements onto your clipboard before turning back to you. “I'm going to do some tests of your nerves, just to make sure everything is in working order,” she says and you nod in understanding. With a metal rod, she places it onto various parts of your body and upon contact, you feel the cold temperature of the rod. Areas included in the test are, but not limited to, your arms, legs, nape, back, abdomen, and even your buttocks. With a gloved hand, she cups your crotch, poking at your vagina and your anal sphincter, deliberately trying to get a reaction from you. “Do you feel these?” You nod. Her last test is on both of your nipples, which she encircles the areola with a finger before lightly pinching each tip. “How about these?” You nod. “Alright, it seems everything is working just fine. Be sure to contact the clinic for any problems once you receive and take your X-Change pill.” She promptly leaves after the test.

“Alright Miss Charlene, your Orientation is almost complete. Just sign the form where I've indicated and we'll start processing your secondary ID Card. You may hang out here for the rest of the hour until you change back,” Jeffrey says. “You'll get your secondary ID Card with instruction on how to properly adhere it to the back of your government-issued ID card in the mail within 3-5 business days. Any packages for purchased pill bottles will come within 2-3 business days after you receive your card. Any questions for me?”

After a while, he leaves the room, leaving you to hang out in the room with your female body. Once the hour is up, you change back into your male self, after which you put your clothes back on and leave the clinic.
