What's next?
Pierre Dupont, Le Spectre de Paris
This version of Pierre Dupont is a brilliant scientist who uses his intellect for heroism, only to be confronted by a major emotional tragedy that isolates him. Intellect and Isolation
Pierre Dupont in this universe is an exceptionally intelligent, slightly rebellious, and edgy student at the Sorbonne. He possesses a strong passion for science, particularly biochemistry. Rather than using organic webbing (like the previous version), he invents and optimizes his own mechanical web-shooters, which are far faster and more efficient, showcasing his technical genius.
He has two central forces in his life:
* Lucie Stacy: The love of his life, a smart and independent biology student at the Sorbonne. She is the only person Pierre trusts with his secret life. Lucie actively helps Pierre design his gear and challenges his ethics throughout his superhero career.
* Capitaine Claude Stacy: Lucie’s father, a veteran and hardened detective in the Paris Judicial Police, who views L'Homme-Araignée (The Spider-Man) as a threat to public order and is determined to capture him.
Confrontation with Le Lézard (The Lizard)
Pierre's first major crisis occurs when his research into genetic diseases leads him to his friend and mentor at the Sorbonne, Dr. Curtis Connoir. Dr. Connoir, after a failed limb-regeneration experiment, transforms into a reptilian monster that lurks in the old tunnels and sewers beneath Paris.
L'Homme-Araignée's battles with Le Lézard spread fear and chaos throughout the city as the Lizard attempts to turn the populace of Paris into mutated reptiles. Pierre uses his intellect to create an antidote and defeat Le Lézard, but the victory comes at a terrible price.
The Tragedy of the Seine Bridge
The climax of the story takes place during a confrontation high above the Pont des Arts (Lovers' Bridge) or a tall radio mast in central Paris. Capitaine Stacy arrives, determined to arrest L'Homme-Araignée, but Lucie, worried for both men in her life, follows Pierre.
During the struggle against another powerful villain (perhaps Electro or another energy-based ****), Lucie is suddenly put in danger of falling. In a horrifying moment, Pierre attempts to save her with his web, but despite all his speed and ingenuity, he is a fraction of a second too late.
Lucie Stacy is killed.
Le Spectre de Paris (The Phantom of Paris)
Lucie's **** shatters Pierre's life. Unable to overcome his guilt and having broken the promise he made to Capitaine Stacy to protect Lucie, he withdraws from all personal relationships.
* Isolation: He drops out of the Sorbonne and gives up any semblance of a normal job. He hides in a small apartment near the Seine, avoiding contact with his friends.
* Identity Shift: L'Homme-Araignée no longer cracks his usual jokes. He becomes a ruthless and highly focused fighter who moves with terrifying speed through the buildings. The people of Paris know him as Le Spectre de Paris (The Phantom of Paris), a solitary figure who appears only at night to hunt the most serious criminals.
Pierre Dupont is no longer an optimistic hero. He is a broken champion tormented by his greatest failure, dedicating his entire existence to his responsibility to ensure he can never, ever lose anyone he cares about again.
