Chapter 35 by merkros merkros

On the Road to Southmarch

Picked up Anyway

As Neesta walked along the road, his mind wandered quite a bit. For some reason, he kept thinking about bears. Big bears, little bears, Bear Girls with their round ears and plush bottoms. He didn't even hear the caravan arrive until it was almost upon him. It didn't really surprise him that the caravan was traveling towards Southmarch, but he had figured they would have spent more time messing around before getting organized.

A gravelly old voice broke his musing. "A lift?" The old hag at the reigns of the wagon looked down her nose at him when a flash of realization splashed onto her face "Ay, weren't you one who saved us? A lift!"

He released air out of his nostrils probably louder than he meant to. Neesta didn't really see himself as a savior. He was just doing what he felt was right at the time and he had no qualms about running away had the tide turned against them. Ultimately he was a selfish man and not only that but he wasn't really one for groups. Regardless, he was already going the same way. There wasn't really any reason not to travel with the caravan at least until they reached Southmarch.

"Ahhh sure...Why not?" Now in the calm, his catfolk accent made his voice smooth and silky. With a grunt, he climbed onto the passenger side of the wagon and sat down next to the old lady.
