Pick Up a Hitch-Hiker
You’ve been driving for about an hour. It’s just past a town when you see a man holding his thumb out, asking for a ride in your direction. He’s still walking, but when he hears you slow down he stops and turns around.
He’s older than you. About middle aged if you had to guess. There’s a baseball cap over his head, but a black beard stretches under, and around his chin. You can’t see his frame, it’s hidden under a thin baggy jacket.
You pull behind him, on the side of the road. He comes around to your window.
“Where are you headed?” You ask as you roll the window.
“The next City,” He says. “Try’n to get there by tomorr’a.”
“I’ll take you there. Hop in”
