Chapter 50 by OathkeeperPath OathkeeperPath

What's next?

Peace

Peace- rough draft v1

Natalie and I spent the entire day reconnecting, taking time to have open and honest conversations. Even though the events of the hypnosis and its impacts on Lissy cast a shadow over us, being together, opening up to each other, provided us a sort of comfort.

By the time night came, we were in each other's arms, our bodies molding against one another in the soft warmth of our bed. Things weren't perfect, not by a long shot, but it was healing and that felt like a good start.

We made the hard decision to respect Lissy's wishes. As difficult as it was, we knew she needed space to deal with all of this in her own way. And when she was ready, we would be here, ready to confront the consequences of our actions, ready to make things right.

Morning came, bringing with it a certain peacefulness. The sunlight peeked through the gaps in our curtains, lighting up the room with a soft glow. We showered together, our touches softer, the pace slower than what the hypnosis had driven us to. This was us rediscovering a more genuine intimacy, a reconnection on our own terms.

Later that night, as we lay in each other's arms, the lingering effects of our love-making still humming through our bodies, the fast-paced frenzy was replaced with a slow burn, a more controlled exploration of one another. It was a welcome change.

Exhausted and content, we lay tangled in each other's arms, the world outside a distant concern. We were focused on each other, on this moment.

Our peaceful slumber was abruptly disturbed by a notification. Natalie reached out to my phone on the nightstand as she was closer, squinting at the bright screen.

"It's Luraine," she mumbled, her voice sleep-heavy. I turned towards her, curiosity piquing despite the late hour.

"What does it say?" I asked, my heartbeat quickening. Natalie frowned, re-reading the text before responding.

"'Come in tomorrow, Mark talked to me. 7am sharp.' She sounds... serious." She looked at me, concern etched on her face. I could feel my heart pounding. Tomorrow was going to be a big day, a new challenge. But we were in this together, ready to face whatever comes.
