Party!

Madeline heads back to the party. The moment she arrives he heads over to the bar. She sees Catherine sitting there next to buxom blonde. She’s eyeing a tall, black haired, attractive, guy. Maddy hopes she hasn’t seen her yet.

Catherine makes a coughing noise. “Dyke.”

Maddy turns and walks away. She wants to scream. She wants to rip out the homophobic bitches throat. She settles for crying in the corner.

“Hey, are you ok?”

“Yeah. That blonde girl was just being so mean.”

“Catherine?”

“That’s her.”

“She’s a bitch. I’m Barb.”

“Nice to meet you.”

Barb offers her a hand and she takes it, pulling herself up.

“So why is Catherine being such a bitch to you?”

“I’m gay.” Maddy says so quietly Barb barely hears her.

“I see. To each their own. I haven’t had sex since my sister died. Every time I try to put myself out there, I chicken out.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. It’s just something I have to deal with.”

“If you ever decide to switch teams, I’d love a date.”

Barb gives a little laugh. “I’m pretty straight, but maybe I’ll get **** enough.”

Maddy laughs.

Maddy time for class.

The disembodied voice cuts through the party noise.

“Oh, I think I have to go.”
