Pan vanishes

One morning Julie woke up and Pan was nowhere in sight. She waited half the day, and then she started to get worried and rather depressed. Why did he leave her? She was just warming up to the idea of spending a long time with him. Was she in love with him? she wondered.

While waiting, she gathered food. She thought if he came back he would be happy to see that she had food.

After half the day there was still no sign of Pan. So Julie sighed, gave up, and moved on. Maybe she would see Pan later, but there was no point in just waiting around. She still had to move forward.

Eventually, she came to a river. She looked around but didn't see a bridge or boat. So Julie, already nude, walked up to the water and prepared to swim. The water looked quite frightening, a dark black color and very choppy. Just as she was about to enter the water she heard a voice say "I wouldn't do that if I was you!"
Julie looked back and saw a strange little creature sitting on a rock, not far away from where she stood. When Julie looked at him he added, "Whatever enters the water never comes out again. It's one way of keeping the realms separate. You need some kind of magic to pass in the next realm."
Julie looked at the creature and asked, "Do you have such magic?"
"No but I know where to find it for a price!"
