Orc

Chapter 20 by The Dark Traveler The Dark Traveler

Orcs are larger than the average humanoid with a large skeletal structure and strong, dense muscles. They have prominent, protruding tusks in their lower jaw. The tusks are larger in males and are used to compete for mates. They have a lower average intelligence than other humanoids. This comes from centuries of selective pressure from orc society that favours might and aggression. Orc skin tones range from green to grey.

Orcs are one of the few sentient species that still compete for the right to mate, although the female's choice is still taken into consideration. Although details of their mating competition is social sciences, not anatomy, it is important to learn for its impact on their development as a species.

Each year, male orcs compete for the right to mate, creating a kind of dating pool. Then females can choose from the dating pool those they find attractive and who find them attractive back. This is called the choosing. Unsuccessful orcs must be content with not being able to pair up that year and may try again next year. Death is very rare in modern competitions, but not unheard of.

In recent decades, the LGBT Orcs have gained the right to a dating pool and the right to compete in mating competitions. Have become mainstream. There is documented proof of LGBT orcs competing in the main competition or holding their own small-scale unofficial contest. In the new official comparisons, there are brackets for Straight (male seeking female, Gay (male seeking male), and Lesbian (female seeking female). Non-binary or Trans individuals may compete or select from in their preferred bracket but wear a headband in the choosing so that perspective partner knows what they are getting into. In for the queer brackets, the competitors are those individuals who consider themselves Tops, and the chooses consider themselves Bottoms. If there is no preference, then they may complete or choose. However, they might be expected by their partner to assume the role. In this system, Bisexuals may choose to compete in their preferred bracket or choose from any bracket in the choosing. Victory in one bracket does not gain you entry into the other choosings, so Bi top individuals must complete in multiple brackets if they want open options.

There are some intelligent orcs that help their society progress and develop tools and weapons. So-called "smart orcs" are able to win the right to mate normally by inventing a new weapon or armour or tactics that give them an edge in the competition, or they are a female that has the right to choose.
