Opportunity

The weekend goes by quickly. Sadly, Dave and Lisa have something come up, so no cookout this time, despite all the flirting back and forth. You set up a definite time for next week, however, and they wish you luck in your visit with the AWIO.

When Monday rolls around, you’re actually pretty nervous, despite assurances from the girls that everything is going great. You say goodbye as they head off to the diner, and you start your drive to the now familiar AWIO building. It’s not actually that far from the diner, only a couple miles, and when you park, you take a moment to calm yourself. After all, they asked for you, right?

Taking a deep breath, you get out and walk inside. You’re surprised to find Rachel waiting in the lobby for you, a big smile on her face. “Brian! I’m so glad you decided to come by. So, you’re interested in becoming an advisor?”

You chuckle. “I suppose so, although I’ll admit that I don’t have any experience with this.”

Rachel waves a hand dismissively. “Nonsense! You’re living with monster girls, and doing wonderfully, I might add. They all speak very highly of you.”

You smile, blushing a little. “Well…thanks. So, now what? An interview? Do I fill out a job application? I don’t even know what exactly I would be doing.”

Rachel waves you over to a nearby table and chairs in the waiting area. Once you sit, she speaks. “No, nothing so formal. We want you to take the role of an advisor here. Conducting interviews with prospective sponsors, home visits, placement, that sort of thing. We feel like the perspective of being a sponsor yourself will prove very valuable!”

You nod. “I see. I have no real experience, you know.”

Rachel smiles. “We can teach you what you need to know, but the interviews are fairly simple. Remember that the girls watch the interview and come to a decision themselves, you are simply there to facilitate that. As for the home visits, you would shadow someone else for a while until you get the hang of it.”

She looks around. “The majority of your job would be paperwork, but that’s simple enough. And of course, getting to know the monster girls here, so you understand what they’re looking for. Some of them might need a little push, like Ellie did.”

You chuckle. “It sounds like a fairly easy job, honestly.”

Rachel shrugs. “Sometimes. Your job will be to keep the girls safe, and find them good sponsors. You know what that’s like, so it’s easier for you.”

She folds her hands in her lap. “If you agree, we can start tomorrow. Our only request is to dress nicely, your appearance will reflect upon the organization as a whole.”

You laugh. “Right. No jean shorts, got it.”

Rachel laughs, nodding. “Exactly. Regardless, that’s our offer. We also will pay you well.”

You nod. “That’s good. And my hours?”

Rachel smiles. “Normal business hours. Don’t worry, you’ll be home with your family at night.”

She looks at you expectantly.
