Opening A Door

Spending the night at Lyn's house wasn't too bad. Jasmine and Mio took the guest room while me and Lyn cuddled all night long.

We did have to convince her dad not to go beat up my parents. That wasn't easy.

I know I need a plan for my parents, but I want it to be a group decision. And given that we have school, we'll have to wait until lunch.

But long before then, I noticed something off about Wendy. She looked like she had been crying, and she was wearing long sleeves.

"Wendy, is everything ok?" I asked her in the halls.

"I'm fine, don't worry," she said. But as she moved her arm, I saw something on her wrist. Without a word, I grabbed her wrist and pulled her into a empty area.

"What are you doing?" she questioned before I pulled down the sleeve of her shirt, and I saw it.

Bruises. Lots of bruises and cut marks.

When I looked at her, she looked away in shame.

"Wendy, where did you get these?" I asked her. She pulled her arm back and turned away.

"Just drop it," she snapped and tried to leave, but I didn't let her and grabbed her wrist again.

"No. Wendy, I care about you. Please, you can tell me anything," I said. When she turned to look at me, she was crying.

"My dad hits me," she said. I didn't say anything in response. Instead, I pulled her into a hug.

We stayed like that for a long time. A million thoughts went through my head. But one thing was for sure, I had to do something to get her away from him.

"Wendy, if you want, you can live with me once we get everything figured out," I said, fully expecting her to say no.

"That sounds nice," she said.

Eventually, the janitor found us alone together. It seemed he was about to freak out until he saw her tears, and left us alone.

I ended up missing a class, but I didn't care. Wendy needed me more.

Once it was lunch time, it was time to make a plan.
