Chapter 10 by Artican Artican

Do they stop him?

Open the hatch and have a peek outside. [END]

“They told us to stay in here,” Aria stated.

“Yeah, stay in long enough for them to use the rescue boats!” Martin retorted. “They probably left us alone here so the monsters would stick around. We’re just bait!”

“Come on, baby, don’t think about that! Let’s just have some fun!” Tricia told him.

“Don’t think about that? What are we supposed to do? Wait in here until the oxygen runs out? For all we know, those guards could be long gone, or dragged off by those sea monsters!” Martin complained. “Ignoring the problem is what’s going to get us killed! We need to take control and save ourselves! I’m headed out there to see what’s going on.”

“You know, he may be right,” Richard agreed. “Who knows what’s going on out there?”

Just to be safe, he picked up a pipe from the floor. The girls looked at each other uneasily, then picked up weapons of their own. They nodded to each other that they were ready and Martin turned the hatch. It creaked into motion, then spun freely until suddenly stopping. The door rustled open, letting in outside air.

Martin peeked out. None of the guards were there. He turned to the others and said, “See? What’d I tell you? They abandoned us!”

Just as he raised his arms to the side to emphasize his words, he got snapped up by claws and was pulled away down the hall!

Everyone one else screamed in horror! Their cries echoed down the hallway and was responded to by disturbing rumbles. More creatures were coming in fast! Richard pulled the door closed but was stopped by a clawed hand! The girls tried to help, but the creature had wedged in, jamming the doorway. They bashed at it to let go, but it was too late!

The rest of the horde piled in and flooded the room! The remaining three survivors were quickly slain and devoured, leaving the entire passenger and crew of the Orient Eclipse lost as sea.

Months later, the abandoned ship was found floating listlessly through the Indian Ocean. When boarded, there was not a soul to be found, just signs of some fighting and strangle scales scattered on various parts of the ship. The salvage group chalked it up as another mysterious disappearance which would be speculated on for decades to come.
