Chapter 4

What now?
Onwards to Moxie's
The rest of Moris's trip was uneventful. Before long, he'd reached his destination on the far side of the castle. As he pulled the door open, he was greeted by an enigmatic combination of dozens of scents. Spirits, exotic herbs, and various magical components mingled together to make an alluring atmosphere.
As Moris stepped in, the squat goblin stirring a fresh concoction raised her head to identify her visitor. Below short, brightly dyed pink and white hair, a wide grin stretched across her face. "Well well well, if it isn't the big guy himself. Come here to ogle your favorite gal again, Moris?"
While Moris could dish it back to Elowyn, Moxie was another story. They didn't have the same history together, and the goblin was much more of a tease. Despite towering over her, Moris felt small before her. To call Moxie's figure voluptuous would be an understatement. Her curves were downright obscene, and the goblin knew it. She took great care to flaunt her natural gifts, wearing short skirts and low-cut tops that the nobility would never conceive of wearing. It was her skills in alchemy that allowed her the privilege of such vulgarity. No others in Brightmoor were qualified to take the position from her, and the nobility rarely ventured into this far end of Ironhold.
Moxie leaned over her table, waiting for a response from her visitor. Moris couldn't help but look down her freckle ridden cleavage as he gave her an answer. "I don't ogle, Moxie. Unlike you, my mind tends to stay out of the gutter."
"Sure thing, big man. Next you'll tell me that your cock hasn't gotten stiff since you hit puberty." She raised a finger towards the ceiling with a giggle to illustrate her point. "Sooo, what does bring you here?"
Moris got straight to business. "As you might remember, tonight is the Summertide feast. I want to make myself as presentable as possible, so I was wondering if you had a cologne I could use."
"A scent for Summertide, eh? Well, good thing you've asked the best nose in Brightmoor for help. Normally, I'd pair you with something woody, but that's hardly appropriate for this time of year." Moxie hopped from her step stool and walked towards a shelf in the back, climbing up one of the many ladders she'd set up to access her inventory. As she came back to him, she dangled the vial in front of Moris, but pulled it away as he went to snatch it.
"Ah ah ah. You know the deal." Moxie gave the most devious of grins to Moris. "I give you freebies, and you test out my new elixers."
Moris gave her a sigh. Of course he knew the deal. The two of them had come to this agreement when he decided to give a dejected goblin a favor a year ago. While the tests were never disastrous, they had caused him trouble more than a few times in the past. "Fine, but it has to be something mild. I don't want to miss out on tonight."
Moxie was absolutely giddy with her test subject, giggling to herself as she took a phial off her alchemical distiller. She held the concoction up to a light and swirled the goopy dark blue liquid around as she inspected it. Satisfied with her findings, she handed it over to Moris, who she told to swallow in one go.
With a single gulp, Moris downed the mysterious elixer. It tasted primarily sour like citrus, but with a spicy burn that quickly numbed his tongue. His stomach lurched, making Moris grind his teeth, which then made him notice the chalky residue left behind. Before Moris could voice his concerns to Moxie, he slipped into a deep slumber.
"Moris."
A soft, faint voice was calling out to him from somewhere unknown.
"A major turning point in your life has come, for your fate shall be linked with another on this night, should you accept my gift."
What was happening here? Moris's eyes felt as though they were glued shut. His consciousness stood alone in blackness, with no sensation outside of sound revealing itself.
"I feel your apprehension, o' chivalrous knight. Fear not, and trust my words. Now, I shall allow you sight once more, and the one you desire most shall be revealed to you."
Hello CHYOA! I'd like to hear your opinions on the story so far. I've been writing bits and pieces of this every few months, and got to a point where I'm somewhat happy with making it public. Please, in the comments, tell me which heroine you would like to see first. No guarantee I'll get to it any time soon, but I wanted to gauge the interest in the characters before moving forward.
Who does he see?
