Only one way to find out

After taking a few moments for everyone to compose themselves, you once again find yourself facing Aeriel in the middle of the headmaster's office. She is looking at you expectantly, and you can see she is still a little nervous about attempting another spell. You are honestly feeling likewise, memories of your past few attempts fresh in your mind.

"Are you ready Aeriel...?", you ask.

"Mmhmm... I think so...".

Hold on a moment if you please.", comes the voice of the headmaster.

You and Aeriel turn your attention to the old man, both of you with cocked eyebrows. He smiles amiably, then traces a figure in the air before him. You see a light blue shimmer surrounding you and Aeriel in a ten meter radius. The blue sheen disappears after about five seconds.

"Just a little protective barrier. Insurance... in case things get a little out of hand.", Hallgrave remarks.

You and Aeriel share a skeptical glance.

"Your confidence in us is comforting.", you say dryly.

Hallgrave chuckles. "Now now my boy, I do have confidence in you. so much so, that I think I will make this test a bit more interesting...", he says as he traces another rune in the air. You see something forming inside the barrier with you and Aeriel. It begins as a small spark, then grows to embers. Before you know it, there is a humanoid creature made entirely of flame not twenty feet away from you.

"Wh... What is that?!", you inquire nervously.

"That is a fire elemental. He will attack you in about twenty seconds. I suggest you prepare yourself and attempt to vanquish it."

"Headmaster...", Professor Dove interjects.

"Yes my dear?", Hallgrave responds.

"Are you sure about this? Doesn't it seem a little soon for something like that?"

He waves his hand dismissively.

"Not at all. Trust me Rebecca. He is far more capable than he seems."

"I'm glad YOU think so!", you exclaim.

"The longer you talk to me, the less time you have before he attacks.", Hallgrave admonishes you, nodding at the fire elemental. "I will give you one tip however... Use your head and trust your power."

"What...? I...", you stammer.

Before you can even give what he said any more thought, the fire elemental begins to advance on you.

"Shit!", you say. "Aeriel..."

"I know... Think of something, quick... You are the one who has to act, remember...? I am only a means..."

Just then, the flaming creature draws it's arm back and you see a fiery sphere forming in it's hand.

"FIREBALL...!", Aeriel shouts.

"I see that...!", you yell in return.

The elemental launches the fireball at you with incredible speed and accuracy. You leap to one side just in time. The heat from the fireball is intense, and you are reminded of orientation when Hallgrave flung a fireball at you.

"Whoa... That was close...", you say.

"Yeah...", Aeriel replies.

"Ok... It's fire... So it should be weak against water...", you postulate aloud. "Alright Aeriel... Let's give it a shot..."

"Right...!", she says firmly.

You reach out to her and, like the times before, you cup her breast in your hand and rub her nipple. Keeping your eye on the fiery creature, you see it wind up another fireball. Forming your intent for your ball of water, you draw the power from Aeriel. Just before you complete the spell however, the elemental hurls it's fireball at you. You dodge out of the way once again, managing to keep your focus and contact with Aeriel. The sphere of water appears an instant later and, using your intent to direct the spell, you project it toward the flame creature.

The watery orb strikes home in the elemental's torso. Steam rises up from the contact and obscures your view.

"yeah...!", you exclaim excitedly. "got him..."

"He's not done yet...", Aeriel says, breaking you out of your celebration.

Just then, another fireball careens toward you. Again, you dive clear of the projectile.

"I figured you would try that water spell you are so fond of.", Hallgrave says from the sidelines. "That's why I summoned something that will require a little more than just some minor water spell. You'll have to be a bit more creative. But, judging by your reflexes and the fact that you were able to get that shot off, I'd say that the experiment has gone very well so far."

"Fucking psychotic old ma...", you begin just as you are interrupted by another fiery projectile.

"That's not a very nice thing to say to someone who is trying to help you.", Hallgrave says with a chuckle.

"Remind me to never ask for your help again.", you retort, keeping an eye on your adversary.

"Young people these days, no gratitude.", Hallgrave grumbles.

"Aeriel...", you say.

"yeah...", she responds.

"Can I draw large amounts of power from you and use it to combine multiple low level spells instead of one advanced spell...?

"Yes... Why...?"

"I think I have an idea..."

Another fireball comes flying at you just then. You jump out of the way.

"Can I use your power to enhance my own physical abilities...? Like making me faster or stronger...?"

"Yes... But that can be a little risky... I would only recommend doing something like that in brief spurts... Extended periods of usage will strain your body severely..."

"I understand... I will keep that in mind..."

"What are you thinking silly boy...?"

"You'll see... But I think this might work... Turn around so that your back is to me...""

She does as you say and turns around.

"Are you ready...?", you ask.

"Yes... You had better hurry...", she replies, her tone something between worry and excitement.
