One perk deserves two more...

Arron stepped in behind Ms. Thatcher as they walked out of her office and headed back down the hallway until they reached the elevator. Instead of heading downwards, though, the woman pressed the button for the 10th floor and all she did was smile at Arron's questioning look. "The top level executives are between floors 6 through 8, junior executives are on 2-4. On the 5th is Deputy Administrators. These are the basic layouts for the company running the casino function and the hotel functions, okay?"

He nodded and Elizabeth continued. "The 9th floor is financials, where Mr. Hunter works. You are on the 10th floor, this is where we run all aspects of the corporation. Hospitality covers both casino operations as well as the hotel and hotel grounds. In essence, everything comes under this area whenever you think about interaction between us and our patrons."

Arron blinked in surprise as she walked him down to the office area near the end of the floor to the left of the elevators. "This is where your office will be." He walked through the doors and stopped, his mouth agape. After a few moments, Elizabeth joined him with a smile. "It's not decorated yet, this is what we call a 'basic pallet.' It's a perk, so to speak, of every business director at the Senior Executive and Middle-Executive level to have their basic office set up and then to permit them to decorate as they see fit. The company believes that choosing otherwise would inhibit the person's sense of style and purpose. Some new age fangled thing where they believe a happier worker makes a more productive worker. Personally, I'm not sure if that's true or not but I can't deny that it works."

Arron, finding himself still at a loss for words, walked to the glass and looked out. One whole section of his office wall was floor to ceiling window panes that allowed ample natural light in as well as afforded him a masterful view of the protected cove maybe half a mile out from the property grounds, the golf course to the left and a fantastic view of the mountains in the distance. He would've killed for a view like this back east. In part, he wondered just whom Marjorie had to pay off to get this type of recommendation.

"Cat got your tongue?"

He shook his head and smiled. "S-Sorry, this is just a lot to take in, that's all."

She nodded in understanding. "Like I said, it's a perk. You are expected to do a lot but the company wants to take care of you too. You will have a direct staff of three people working for you. I've asked HR to provide you with a list of candidates and you get to select three. One will be your personal assistant, one will be your secretary, and the other will be your attache. At your level, we usually have a team of 5 but our grouping's a bit short at the moment. When we have more applicants, I'll be sure to have you select two more."

"That's quite the bonus..."

The other woman looked a bit surprised at first and then slowly nodded her head. "I suppose it would be, huh. Never thought of it like that." She turned and the two of them walked to the door and then went down the hallway towards the right side of the floor. "This section, once it is finished being renovated, will be turned over to you and your department. This is where we want to see how you will handle running and working this operation. It's a big undertaking, I am not kidding on that, but we have faith you can do the job."

He gulped a bit and then nodded. "Thanks..."

Elizabeth leaned forward and smiled warmly. "It's all a bit overwhelming the first week so just take it easy and settle in. I'll send you the files later on."

With that, he watched her turn and disappear into the elevator, leaving him alone on the entire floor he now owned. "Holy shit..."
