Chapter 17 by Bigbop38 Bigbop38

Finally leave Pallet? Or do you get held up again?

On to Route 1!

It’s been a long time coming, but you’re finally out of Pallet and walking down Route 1. Well, it’s actually only been a few hours, but with all that’s happened it feels like it’s been a week or something.

The midday sun beats down on you, but a nice breeze helps you withstand the heat. You stroll absentmindedly, thinking about the events of the day so far. Receiving your Charmander, defeating Blue, the subsequent forfeit, sex with Daisy… that was all just this morning! You’re starting to think this adventure is going to be even more involved than you had ever expected, and be even more exciting!

Suddenly, a shape darts out of the bushes on the side of the road, rushing towards you! You jump back, narrowly avoiding a tackle from the small purple and white Pokémon. A Rattata, a speedy normal type Pokémon with wicked teeth. You quickly spring into action, sending out your Charmander and preparing to battle.

The two Pokémon square off, and the fight begins. You aren’t exactly flush with options, so this goes almost exactly the same way it did against Blue’s Squirtle. Only this time, the opponent is not quite on an even footing with Charmander. After a quick exchange of scratches and tackles, your partner stands victorious over his defeated foe… which is rapidly replaced by a second Rattata, which Charmander also defeats. He is looking a little rough after that one though…

*Ding* your Pokédex chimes. You pull it out and see a notification from an app you hadn’t really checked yet, Pokétracker. Your Charmander has learned Ember! the notification reads. Huh, so this app is connected with your Pokémon -or more likely their Pokéballs- and would update you on their progress. Convenient!

You use one of the few potions you have on you to fix up Charmander, then recall him to his ball after rubbing his head a bit. You are going to need to be conservative if you can, you only have a couple more potions on you and 3000 PD to your name. You decide to tread a bit more carefully on your way to Viridian city, not wanting to have your starter faint and leave you to run from anything that decided to attack you.

Another hour or so into your journey however, you spot something that catches your eye. A small brown and white bird, pecking at some seeds on the ground and oblivious to your approach. This Pidgey, you decide you want to catch. A flying type could be useful, and even though Charmander would evolve into one eventually, that’s a while away. You creep up on the unobservant bird, then leap out and release Charmander!

“Scratch it Charmander!” The Pidgey squawks in shock as your flame-tailed lizard lunges at it, raking his claws down its side. The bird instinctually rams its head against its attacker, causing your partner to wince in pain. You take this moment to lob a Pokéball at the Pidgey, making contact and absorbing the bird in a flash of red light.

One…Two…Three…Click! You got it! Your first capture, on your first try! You scoop up the Pokémon, feeling proud at the simple accomplishment. You high-five your starter before returning him to his ball. You take a moment to post about the capture on your TPP. It isn’t the most exciting Pokémon or anything, but a catch is a catch and a catch is progress.

“That was a good catch. Congratulations.” Your silent celebration is cut off by a soft, feminine voice. Your eyes quickly move toward its source, and lock onto a figure you recognize clearly, even if you’ve never met her before. You’ve been following famous trainers’ careers and religiously watching tournaments for years now, and that makes this woman impossible to mistake.

A career trainer of 5 years, this 23 year old beauty is well known throughout the Kanto and Johto regions for collecting both regions badges and participating in many, many tournaments over the years, including 4 Pokémon League Tournaments. Sylvia, from Olivine City.

Her hair is platinum-blonde and hangs down to her waist, and her pale face is framed by long bangs on either side. Her golden eyes are just as warm as her smile as she looks over you. She is only 5 feet tall, and has an extremely slender frame supporting a B-cup bust. Her body is covered by a short sky-blue sundress that flutters in the wind. It’s so sheer, you can almost see through it.

You realize you’ve just been staring at her agape for far too long, and attempt to recover. “Um, thank you! Hello. Hi.” Smooth, Red.

She merely continues smiling at you though, a sparkle in her golden eyes. “Am I correct in assuming that was your first catch? You seemed quite excited.”

You feel your face flush in embarrassment. “It was, yeah. Guess it was a little silly to get so excited over a Pidgey…”

“Oh, not at all! I think it’s wonderful, actually. Everyone starts somewhere, and I personally love meeting rookies who have just started out. Seeing their passion and eagerness always helps remind me why I became a trainer in the first place.” Her quiet voice and sweet words warm your heart, melting your embarrassment away.

“You’re Sylvia, right? I recognize you from TV.” You say shyly.

“My, how flattering! Indeed, I am. What is your name?” She replies sweetly, her own face now flushing. She’s really cute…

“I’m Red, from Pallet Town.” You answer a bit too eagerly.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Red. Hm, Pallet Town is just down the road, yes? Have you just begun your journey today?” She cocks her head at you, smiling.

“Yes, just today. I’m on my way to Viridian City now. Where are you headed?” You ask the adorable woman.

“Cinnabar Island, via boat leaving from Pallet actually. There’s a tournament happening in Cinnabar, but it isn’t until next week. So I decided to take the scenic route, enjoy the Kanto countryside.” Her sweet smile continues to enchant you, but unfortunately neither of you can stay to chat much longer.

“We should probably both be going then…” Unhappy as you are to part so soon, it’s not like challenging her is gonna end well for you, and you do need to go. “You should get to Pallet just after dark if you go now, and I need to hurry to Viridian.” You wish you could chat with the friendly woman more, but you need to hurry.

She nods at you in response. “Yes, we should probably be on our ways. It was nice to meet you, Red. I look forward to seeing your home. Please, watch the tournament next week if you can find the time! Hopefully we meet again.” As she finishes her statement, a large gust of wind blows past, causing her dress to flap up and around her. She makes no move to hold it down, as most of her creamy legs are revealed to you, even giving you a glimpse of… is she not wearing underwear? You can’t quite tell in the brief moment you have to look.

You catch yourself staring again, and swiftly bring your gaze back up to meet hers. Her bright smile still shines through a blushing face, and she simply bids you ‘goodbye’, before walking down the road you had come from. You swear she’s exaggerating the sway of her hips, as you yet again stare at her as she walks past you.

You shake yourself out of it, telling yourself you really do need to hurry it up. Thoughts of the famous blonde still in your head, you rush down the road in front of you, hoping you make it to your destination before too much longer.

Word from the author: Just wanted to talk about two things really fast. First, I don’t really plan to stick to the canon teams for Red and Blue completely, I’m going to do my own thing. Second, PD is Pokémon Dollars, which is the genuine name for the games’ currency in western releases. PD are equivalent to Yen however, which are roughly 1 penny. So 3000 PD is roughly 30.00 USD. Keep the conversion in mind if you want to understand whenever I bring up money. That’s all. Enjoy!

Make it to Viridian before dark?
