Fictional country story is taking place is a very loose mix of 17th, 21st century Poland and early 20th century England.

Classism is alive and well, aristocracy still exists. Merchants who made fortunes are still considered nouveau riche.

Slavery is alive and well, although African **** trade was never a factor, and almost all slaves are of the same country.

Racism is not really a thing, replaced instead by xenophobia, colorism, and classism. Even if someone is a white male, if they are from "lesser" country they are consider lesser and are discriminated against (think "No Irish" signs, or Ukrainians in Poland).

Colorism There are actually two ends of spectrum on this.
On one - as with the old "blue blooded" - the whiter/paler you are the higher status you're considered. Tanned people are considered inferior, as it implies that they may:
A) not be able to shelter from the sun all day
B) have to work
C) have to work in fields
As such tan-lines are actually a big taboo. If your skin is naturally Olive, then you can avoid the degradation that comes with work. If you however do show tan-lines it's now proven that you got sun-touched.

On the other hand - in nations where dark skin dominates a different phenomena occurred, where the darker the skin is the higher the status.

Xenophobia There's no European Union yet ;) and every country is out for themselves, as such xenophobia is rampart, countries are considered better or worse based on multitude of factors. However immigrants - even from "better" countries - are still treated with distance at best, and with physical hostility at worst. Rapes of "other" women are simply ignored by the police, and attempts to get justice are often met with brutal retaliations.

Possibly there will be additional countries presented as a business/adventure/holiday destinations. Those countries will be stereotypes/caricatures/exaggerations of UEA, Saudi Arabia, "old" India, and some other exotic locations.
Yes, they will be mostly offensive and used for fetishizing purposes. Sorry in advance!
