Chapter 9 by Zingiber Zingiber

Roll 2d6+1 to DEFEND YOUR HOUSE'S HONOR

On a 7+, choose one when you DEFEND YOUR HOUSE'S HONOR

⚄⚀ + 1 = 7.

The Leontes bloke hisses in irritation at the young lady from Beavertail. "He's just an underclassman, what do you care?" he says.

She frowns at him, then looks back to you.

"No really, why are you even listening to him?" he asks her.

"Because I'm a better man, from a better family, and a better House," you say.

"Prove it," he says.

She seems to be listening to him, at least a little bit.

Some of the other students have caught up or have come back to watch your confrontation.

The Leontes fellow, Whats-his-name Hasdrubal, spits at your feet.

You whiten with anger and stand tall, overtopping the brute by an inch or so. If he goes for his wand, you'll stun him arse over teakettle, but you won't be first to make that move.

Will your actions redeem your honor in the young lady's eyes?

Choose one and describe the results of your attempt to prove yourself:

  • You lose narrowly and demand a rematch (now or later). Roll again at -1.
  • You lose gracefully.
  • You fight him to a standstill, collapse, and go to the Infirmary. Gain +1 XP and an ENEMY who wants a rematch after you emerge.
  • You have a bitter triumph. Gain +1 XP and an ENEMY who is bitter at you.
  • You win ungracefully. Gain +1 XP and lose a FRIEND or a FAVOR.
  • You win unfairly. Gain +1 XP and describe a dramatic scene where you misuse your House's trait to win. Next: GET OUT OF TROUBLE.

You have 0 XP. Your sister Anastasia is your FRIEND who owes you a FAVOR.
You have a CONSEQUENCE from being embarrassed (-1 to all rolls to resolve a Move).
