Chapter 7 by SonofOsman SonofOsman

Roll +Cunning (2d6+1) to CAST STUN on the Leontes

On a 10+, STUN succeeds, and the Lion Tumbles

⚃⚅+1=11

The tip of the wand flashes for a brief moment, before sending out a picture-perfect gaseous blue puff... managing to keep your emotions in check. Blurring in with the mist the spell is near invisible. You're only able to follow it since you knew it was their, whizzing past the heads of passing students before dissipating as it strikes the Leontes in the temple. Your smirk widens as you see it hit just as he was leaning an elbow on the railing, smugly recounting a duel from last semester.

"So, I had just deflected his Ethereal Chains, when I raised my wand fo...OOOOO" His words turned to a shout as the slight rocking of the ferry caused his legs to flail, his weight tilting him over the railing and into a clumsy front flip. The expression of the girl he'd been flirting with turned from her former fake smile, to momentarily horrified, before widening into a humored grin once she head the loud splash, scattering up water onto the deck with many of the drops landing on the near by students' clothes. The wet portions of the cloth quickly weaken and unravel, causing several upperclassmen to do everything from giggle to shriek in surprise as small portions of their skin were revealed. The Beavertail girl, as the closest, had been one of the hardest hit; the front of her robe looking almost like a piece of Swiss cheese. You manage to catch a glimpse of her nipple before she comes down from her initial laughter, placing a hand over the offending part as the Freshmen look on, either staring or turning their heads away in embarrassment. The upperclassmen take it in stride, poking their fingers into the holes in their friend's clothing and joking.

One the Draconis students leans over the edge, yelling down as your victim's robe scatter into rags around him, spitting out some of the slick, slimy water from his mouth. "Hey, nice dive Eddy." He says sarcastically. You slickly slide your wand into your cloak before approaching the railing, seeing 'Eddy' stand up in the water: revealing his naked torso as he shoots eye-daggers at your senior. That should teach that oaf a thing or two about humility too. You mentally pet yourself on the back for the success, as some of the more adventurous freshmen join you, looking down and giggling mischievously or lustfully at his body.

The two girls on the shore seem to be getting into the fun as well, the black-haired one yelling out to him. "Awe... so eager to let your 'little freshman' out to play? Come on... let's see the little guy." She sounded so... cutsie.

"Go set on a log!" He shouted back in insult, splashing up some water towards her and only narrowly missing. Taking advantage of the chaos, you slip past the rest of the students and take the short jump onto the sandy shore, the small hole near the bottom of your cloak the only sign of wear. You hold your suitcase close to your chest, giving Edward's Beavertail victim a wink once you notice her looking in your direction.

Maybe the other-first years would have the sense to follow now that they've seen what the Tarn can do. A few actually do faster then you'd expect, a motley collection of 6: two Minervals, two Draconi, a Leontes, and a Beavertail: sharing one of the luggage trollies that was waiting for the new students at the base of the twisting path up the castle complex.

"I'll push." One of the other Draconi boys offer, quickly followed by a "Me two" from the Beavertail. From behind, you can hear a number of students erupt in laughter and "Oh my gods," and "No ways"... as you see Edward stand up out of the corner of your eyes. You let out a sigh of relief that you hadn't said anything or made it obvious, as you stand by the side of the trolley, taking the easy job of holding the bags so they don't fall off on the gravely path to the castle. You shudder occasionally during the climb, thinking what an ordeal this steep and bumpy slope might be if you were wet and naked... the cold breeze of the coming even billowing the ends of your cloak until you finally peak over the last rise, seeing the carved pavestone walkway of campus proper spread out before you, the doors to the Great Hall open in welcome of the incoming students. You can hear the bulk of the class coming up from down the trail, as the glow of torches or a roaring fireplace invite you into the Hall for what you can only assume is the traditional first night's Welcoming Ceremony.

However, you also have your bags to deal with. And you had promised Anastasia you'd stop by and say hello as soon as you could. She was probably up in Draconis Tower right now, chatting with all her wizard-lady friends who were fortunate enough not to have to take the cold, damp ferry here. Of course, he could always send it up with a porter: what appeared to be some kind of half-giant standing dutifully by the door, and stay in the lobby to meet your new classmates in an appropriate setting.

Record +1 Exp for your first perfect casting of the STUN spell and getting well-deserved vengeance on Edward in secret. (Total 1 XP).
