Old Mo rains on their parade

Ren was very proficient in his techniques since those were all he could train during all those years, but even after laying with Mei so many times the amount of energy he held was barely enough to be called a murim. However his woman clearly wanted to set out, and there was no way he could let her go alone and so he decided that they'll set out together.

After all his master would take his trips from time to time, so why could he not set out to explore the bigger world?
Previously he lacked inner energy and it'd be dangerous if he were to meet murim people or even a large group of common bandit, but now even if it was a bit lacking he did have the means to fight murim goons and common thugs so there was no way he was gonna stay here while Su Mei set off to help the world become a better place.

As for telling her to stay here and give up?
Maybe he could try, but he felt like it may sour their relationship and if she really wanted to go she was strong enough to ignore his opinion.
If he didn't handle it properly he may even lose her heart and be thought of as a coward!

Maybe he could still use the excuse of her cultivation being damage to convince her, maybe at least to delay the trip, but it looked like she had already taken all that into consideration and still choose to go so as her man, all that was left to do was take up arms and go along!

He made up her resolution and expressed his approval, but he wasn't even done speaking before his old master poured cold water on their enthusiasm.
"Hold your horses, lass. Go out in the world? Quell the chaos? Who? You? Did you forget your crippled cultivation? If you want to go out and become some demon or bandit's toy it's your call, but don't you dare drag my disciple down with you"

His growl was sharp and on point, and brought the couple back down to reality.
Indeed, she may have been strong enough before... but now? Even if she recovered some of her cultivation she could still only be considered strong among the common murims, and maybe above average among elites... no, maybe even weaker than the average considering that any energy she'd use would be gone for good till she got someone to refill her.
As for Ren, his technical skills would make him stronger than a common goon but on the grand scheme of things he could only be considered cannon fodder.

"But... but still..." he made her see reality, but she still wasn't convinced. How could she stay put here while the world was in chaos?

"No buts" Old Mo rebuked, at the same time thinking that this little slut got too spoiled by her sect and would need an old hand like him to teach her about the real world... "If you really want to go out in the world, then both of you should first become strong enough to be able to defend yourself..."
