Chapter 23 by A.Dent A.Dent

What Does Monday Bring?

Off To Work!

Unlike normal work days, I woke before my alarm could sound. I was remarkably well rested, given the amount of thought I had put into trying to figure out who Connie could be. In my mind, either Karen or Janet had to have given one of their coins to this woman. It could have been that Nate gave Amber the coin...but it certainly didn't look like her in the picture. Additionally, I have texted her before, recently even, so she likely wouldn't be showing up as "Unknown." If Nate gave that coin to someone else, that would explain the mystery number, but surely, Nate wouldn't have told some rando to tease me.

Right?

The other option I came up was that it could have been the coin that went missing when Janet and I had our shopping trip. That one...unnerved me a bit, as if chance led someone to pick up the coin, how the hell would they have known my phone number?

No, it had to have been Janet or Karen. It simply HAD to. I'd met a couple of Karen's friends, and while there were some definite lookers in the bunch, that picture didn't remind me of any of them. Janet's circle was a much larger mystery me. Either one of my...harem mates...could have given the coin to any number of people. Friends, coworkers...family. Anyone.

Scouring through the conversation with Connie while I ate my breakfast was fruitless. Hell, she said she was traveling, so I couldn't even pull any clues from the background. I did realize, however, there were a couple ways to find out who the mystery woman is. She seemed to imply that if I point blank asked her, she'd tell me. Or I could wait. I had to admit to myself...I rather liked the idea of waiting to find out who this new harem member was. Janet and Karen seemed to be unable to not take my best interests to heart, and going off looks alone, it might be worth trusting their judgement. For the time being.

Speaking of time being...I wanted to make sure I was at work early. Coins or no, showing up late on a day you've got a formal meeting is a bad look. The drive in was smooth. Traffic was lighter. Light enough I was considering leaving earlier every day. My random playlist was hitting all the right songs. Today was a good going to be a good day. I just knew it. As if to signal the truth of that thought, the coins shifted in my pocket, rattling against each other. Oh yes. A very good day, indeed.

As I walked into the front entrance I saw that I had gotten to the office earlier than I expected. Neither Dana, nor Hannah were likely to be at work just yet. A flash of brilliance struck me. I had the perfect plan for how to get one of my designated targets their coin.

A quiet :ping: from my pocket distracted me from my ploy.

Connie ???: Hope you have a good day at work...Mike. I'll be thinking of you all day. Will you be thinking of me?

Yeah..."very good day" might prove to be an understatement.

What's the Game Plan?
