Obsessed with Hentai

"Okay, let's see, you also love anime but" he gets really close to Tanya and whispers in case Maggie's listening, "you're totally obsessed with hentai. So obsessed that you, uh, fantasize about being the girls in any hentai you watch." Kyle bites his thumb wondering if he got too carried away. Tanya shifts uncomfortably in her seat. She's never watched anime much less any hentai, but suddenly she feels herself needing to see what it's all about.

"All set?" Maggie asks popping up into the attic.

Kyle jumps. "Oh, yeah, uh, I added anime to the list."

"Oh, good one! That'll be especially fun when she becomes my cosplay buddy."

Kyle blushes as he thinks about Tanya dressed as some of the victims in his favorite hentai movies. "Y-yeah. Can't wait, so now what do we do?"

Maggie steps past him and looks directly in Tanya's eyes. "Okay, Tanya, you're going to have fun letting us show you all of those things you're suddenly into. You don't need to be quiet anymore and you're free to be the new you, bestie."

Tanya's face lights up. "Why'd you list all of those things off at me, weirdos?"

Kyle and Maggie look at each other both worrying it didn't work.

Tanya shakes her head. "You're both always so ridiculous. Of course, I like all of that stuff. Why else would I hang out with you losers?"

Maggie cocks her head. Kyle raises an eyebrow and asks, "you like comics?"

"Uh, yeah, dork. I totes love all kinds of comics but I, like, need you to show me the best ones."

Maggie's a little thrown off. She can't tell if Tanya's fucking with them or not. "What about horror movies?"

"Mags! You know we secretly watched Jennifer's Body together like a dozen times in seventh grade," she states. It wasn't a lie. Back when they were still best friends they did watch Jennifer's Body nine times in one summer. It was the only horror DVD Maggie was able to hide from her parents. "Although, I haven't seen many others I know I love them. Why are you both acting so weird? And why are you making Josh and Minh wait downstairs?"

"We wanted to make sure we were ready to play," Kyle replies, "one last question, though, why do you keep calling us names?"

Tanya rolls her eyes. "Weak sauce! Is that what this is all about?" She approaches Kyle and gives him a big hug. "You're so ridiculous. You should know I tease the people I love the most. Terms of endearment." She whispers in his ear "if it helps you're the only dork in my life."

Kyle looks at Maggie over Tanya's shoulder. Maggie scrunches her face up and shrugs, she mouthes "I guess it worked?"

Tanya releases the confused teen and skips over to the table. "Well, get the boys and help me roll up my character. I'm ready to play!"

Maggie explains to Josh and Minh that Tanya is wearing a trash bag as a cosplay experiment. She tells them not to comment on it because she's super embarrassed about how it turned out. In fact, she adds, they really shouldn't say much to her today outside of the game because she's feeling shy overall. Josh and Minh both find Tanya being shy a little hard to swallow, especially when they come upstairs and she greets them like they've been lifelong best friends. Still, Maggie has always been the de facto leader of the quartet, so they're careful about talking to her too much.

As the group sits down to play, Kyle, the gamemaster, addresses everyone. "Okay, for the next six hours we'll be playing Shadowrun. Anything we say in the game should be considered only game related. If your character is told to do anything that's only your character being told to do the thing and not you as a person."

"Kyle," Minh asks, "are you feeling okay?"

Maggie hushes him. "This is Tanya's first time. We want to be certain she knows that we know this isn't real life."

Tanya laughs, "of course, I know. And I thought you were weird at school. Let's plaaaaaayyyy." She jokingly whines.

And they do. For the next six hours the quartet experience one of the best Shadowrun campaigns they've ever played. All four, especially Minh and Josh, are impressed by how quickly Tanya adapts and how deep she gets into her character. When they come to the end of the six hours, Minh and Josh are the first to leave.

Maggie hangs back to use the bathroom. While she's occupied, Tanya is alone with Kyle. "So, um," she says bashfully, "this is awkward, but you're into hentai, right?"

Kyle blushes at the question. "Maybe?"

"I'm really curious about it. Maybe you could send me a list of recommendations?"

"There's so much to choose from. What are your interests?"

Tanya thinks for a second. She hasn't a clue. She's never watched a second of hentai in her life. All she knows is she wants to see it. Badly. "I-I don't know. Uh, I want to see all of it. All types. Anything. The Hentai-est Hentai you've ever seen." She has no idea what she's asking.

Maggie yells up. "Tanya, are you coming?"

Kyle smiles. "Okay, I'll send you some links tonight." She gives him a big hug before climbing down the ladder.

Maggie's waiting for her outside leaning on her car. "Did you have fun?"

"So much fun! I hope we can play again next weekend."

The emo girl smirks. "Good, good. And we're best friends?"

"Always, Mags. Why wouldn't we be?"

"I know. I just like to hear it. Guess we should get going. I'll see you on Monday."

Maggie steps out of the way and Tanya heads home.
