Chapter 5 by haileytraynor haileytraynor

Who is she waiting for?

Nyreen

Aria sighed as she adjusted her collar. She couldn’t understand why Nyreen was toying with her so much. As soon as she was in orbit, Aria instantly recognized the ship and was eager to meet with her rekindled lover, but despite Aria’s demands, Nyreen did not immediately show up. As Aria waited more and more, she grew impatient, frustrated, and flustered. “Bray, where is she!”

“Tut tut,” a voice said from the shadows. “So impatient. You never change, do you Ari?”

Aria’s eyes darted to the dark corner to find the female turian leaning against a wall in the shadows. Nyreen smirked as she slid into the seat next to Aria and wrapped her arms around her neck. “What took you so long?” Aria asked, trying to hold her cold expression.

“I wanted to see how long you’d wait for me,” Nyreen said. “It’s fun watching you squirm.”

Aria rolled her eyes and crossed her arms in front of her chest. “So… took you long enough to come back.”

“It’s hard to sneak around when you’re supposed to be dead,” Nyreen said.

“Shepard did it,” Aria mumbled.

Nyreen rolled her eyes. “Yes, and I remember you enjoying that kiss with her.”

“Jealous?” Aria asked.

“Not at all,” Nyreen said, then she paused. “Are you… sad?”

“Why would I be sad? I have Omega back, the reapers are gone, and I have you,” Aria said.

“But… you miss Shepard,” Nyreen said. “Being able to talk to her… give her rewards… you miss her. You wish you could have done more…”

“Please, she means nothing to me,” Aria said. “She chose her partner and that’s that.”

“And you banned said partner from setting foot into Afterlife,” Nyreen smirked.

“She insulted me,” Aria said.

“By knowing something you didn’t,” Nyreen said.

“Exactly,” Aria said. “So what’s your point?”

“You’ve always had your stick up your ass, Ari. Why not let loose? Surely there’s something you’ve always wanted to do. Why not do it now? There’s no war, no threat, no Shepards to tell you otherwise. So… let’s do something different,” Nyreen said.

Aria raised an eyebrow. “What are you talking about? I am perfectly fine on my nice couch.”

“Aria…”

“Fine, I suppose there is one thing I’ve always wanted to try,” Aria said.

What?
