In the river village, every child born is looked over by the elders who then preform a spiritual test to see if the child is destined to become a caretaker. On the day a chosen child comes of age, he/she is dragged before the village where he/she undergoes the ritual and then is sent up river on a boat to the lair of the guardian. Eb will find this offering and take the restrained sacrifice beyond the waterfall where he will have his way with his or her holes. The experience is different for everyone and Nuelle took it better than some as she accepts this is her fate even though she dislikes being the breeding partner of the putrid creature. She is often seen by travelers, following the river up or down stream aimlessly, awaiting the inevitable bedroom activities with Eb whom she knows she cannot escape.
