The Other Guy
Thrown out of the house?
Not yet
You sit in your chair watching the two as the stare at one another. Neither of them say anything and their auras are a wash of conflicting emotions. Maybe you can just tell the husband to leave, he's the problem here after all, what progress you've made at getting her trust has been blow away by his pestering or comments. You don't even know why he's still here. He hasn't helped at all, it would be far easier if he just went away and let his wife handle things. He is just a ... just a ... a ...
"Son of a bitch." You mutter under your breath making the both of them look at you. The husband looks admonished and rises to leave the wife is outraged. "Sorry not. I am, cultural peer pressure's a lot more impactful than I thought it was." You looked a the man. "Why are you so scared for your wife?"
"I," he hesitated for a moment, "she lost her eye, and I can't help." He looks at his wife and kneels down. "I've gone to every healer, I've exhusted myself every time my magic recovers, I've asked my friends to exhaust themselves and nothing's worked." He takes he hand and kisses it softly. "If I don't help you, you'll never get back into the army." You crush the thought that smugly announced you had been right about him caring about money. "That's where you want to be, and I'm fine with you being gone for so long. You haven't left the house in days unless I drag you with me, without the army you're not, you anymore."
The wife puts her other hand on top of his. "It's ok, I'll find another way to leave, I join a ships crew or something."
The two men in the room looked at her with utter confusion at that comment. "What?"
"I know." She said, it wasn't an accusation so much as a resignation.
"You know what?" He asked utterly baffled.
"About you and my sister." You suddenly feel extremely intrusive all of sudden. "I know that you pretend to not like her every time she's over, I always invited her over when I'm home because I don't want you to leave me because I get between you. I know that while I'm in the field the two of you are together. I'm, I love you, Glen. I'll find another way to give the two of you time. Just," she cups his face in a hand, "don't leave me."
Glen blinked twice then said, "I hate your sister. She's rude, tracks dirt all over the house, even into room she hasn't been in, she demands that I provide for all of her needs, she constantly drags you out away from home to go out drinking or to a brothel and you both always come back stinking of perfume and **** and she passes out on the couch and I have to clean her up. She is the worst person I have ever met, I've only put up her all this time because you keep inviting her over and I didn't want to get between the two of you. Emily, I love you, I fucking despise your sister."
The pair stared at each other for a few seconds. "I always split some perfume and beer on me before coming home so you'd think I was drunk and the two of you could be together. I hate drinking and sit outside the brothels until Beth comes out."
Well that explains the whole trust issue you'd been having. You pull their aura's into yourself. The very complex feels all overcome by the simple love they had for each other. Emily feeling like she was the third in her relationship but unable in imagine a life without Glen. Glen enduring anything his wife did because you couldn't live without her. But love was all that mattered right now. The simple, stupid, problem causing love of their life.
You focused on how an eye works and breathed out, pushing their auras back with your magic. "Ah." Emily flinched putting a hand on her face. "Ah!" She bent over grabbing her head and moaning in pain. He held her close stoking her hair as the red side of her face returned to a more natural colour.
The pain didn't last long and she pushed him back after a moment. The two stared at each other for a moment then kissed deeply. "Thank you," she ended the kiss and looked at you, "thank you."
"Um." You tried to think of how to phrase the issue you were looking at. One eye was brown, the other blue. "Were your eyes the same colour?" You asked gently.
"What?" She looked around the kitchen and grabbed a knife using it as a mirror. She raised a hand up to touch the skin below her new blue eye.
You would admit you didn't know as much about dominate and recessive genes as ... ok you probably knew more about it than anyone else on this planet. But, you are pretty sure brown eyes are the ones that are supposed to be dominate.
"I always wanted my dads eyes." Emily says and smiles.
"Dad's eyes?" You mused. Personal desire made sense for impacting how a body would make changes with your help. Auria's tits grew but that probably wasn't a genetic thing so much as a she wanted bigger boobs.
"Can you see?" Glen asked hugging her from behind.
"Yes." Emily looked at you and smiled, she was still missing half a head of hair, and an eyebrow, but she didn't look disfigured anymore. "Thank you."
"Happy to help." You stood and looked at the pair who stared back expectantly. "What?"
"You didn't say how much this would cost." Emily said pulling Glen off her back. "I have my payment from-"
"I did actually it's free." You interrupted. "This helped me infact." You grabbed your stump in your left hand. "Good to know this can regrow."
The two looked down and only just seem to have noticed your missing limb. "Oh, I don't know how to-" Glen said.
"N-no no." You waved him off. "I need someone able to handle my aura, might hurt you." You got back two, slightly confused expressions. "Y-you know who I am don't you?" They gave you a blank look. "Oh, ah well. It was nice to meet you both. And maybe have a chat about Emily's sister." You moved towards the front door.
"W-wait," Emily pulled away from Glen, "are you helping others or now that you know about," she nodded at your stump, "am I the only one."
"Oh ah." You gave it a second of thought and all the many problems that came with people running up to you asking to be healed. But on the other hand. "Yeah I guess." Logistics, that is going to be the issue, you need a place and a time people can go to meet you where you can ... oh come the fuck on really. "Maybe I know a place." The disappointment in your voice made the two step back a little.
"You don't have too I was just, I have some friends that were injured."
"No, that's not the issue. I just really thought I be able to avoid this. Like I honestly thought I would have been able to just not be involved in religion." You sigh, then a thought occurred. "Wait your friends are soldiers right?" Emily, accepting that you are just someone that spouts utterly randomness and not judging you for it nodded. "Great, I'll have a talk with Princess Mary and get her to set up a time and place."
"Princess Mary?" Emily asked looking both like she didn't and did believe you.
"Wait." Glen looked at you a little closer. You really would have thought the whole lack of aura would be unique enough that everyone would recognise you on sight. "Are you, the," he waved his hand, "the."
"Have a good afternoon." You said in a hurry making for the door. As you close it behind you see the look of horrified realization on their faces. They might need to call you back quickly because you are certain a fist is about to be bitten in hindsight horror.
You aren't sure what the time is exactly, probably a little after lunch and you aren't sure if the academy will be serving lunch. Could head to the Palace, probably a chance for lunch there, and you can talk to Mary about the mass healing thing. You don't have to go to Lady Stephanie's class this afternoon as well so you'd have more time. Maybe even knock the date with Mary out in the same day you'd offered it.
Palace, academy, or ... hey what's that sound?
Reborn into Calitian
You are reborn into another world of magic and fantasy. How you live is your choice, the consequences are as well.
The world of Calitian is a world of magic whose sentient inhabitants vary from human to decidedly not. You are rather unexpectedly reborn into this world however you do not get the expected god delivered spiel about said rebirth so you are on your own. This should be interesting.
