Ah! A scholarly one! Wise that you should wish to learn more about these peoples before diving into their world as one of their own. Society here is different to our own, as one would expect, and a large aspect of this is easily and often viewed as blatant sexism when judged through the lense of our moral expectations. You see, females on Aeterna are not treated with the same level of dignity and respect as human women are. On Aeterna, women are expected to devote themselves to one of a number of pre-determined roles or jobs. They are (usually) given a choice, but if a choice cannot be made or will not be a made, one will be assigned to them. Largely, women of the Aethini are viewed as lesser to the men, although their capabilities as the females of their species are not underappreciated or forgotten. This is largely due to females being, unfortunately, both less physically and mentally capable as the men. This is due to a loss of the ability to produce a larger quantity of a necessary neurochemical that enables higher physical and mental function when they transform into females. As such, high society is very much almost entirely dominated by men, and it is the men that you will likely speak to should you encounter this race.

This is not to say that Aethini women are stupid, they are just not capable of the level of intellect one might expect from a human holding a job as something such as an accountant, researcher or a doctor etc. Rather, the women are better suited to service roles and domestic work. Aethini women make excellent waitresses and barmaids! Sorry, got away from myself there. Though, Aethini women are widely regarded as making some of the finest bartenders and professional escorts in the galaxy. Something of note is that Aethini women are almost universally viewed as incredibly attractive, a fact that the race as a whole knows and actively takes advantage of for their own gain. You will find them most commonly in positions of servitude or as a bonded pair with a male, a role akin to a wife. Though you may also find them accompanying off-world Aethinian traders being used as eye candy or as a bargaining chip. Outside of this, those that make their way off-world by themselves can often be found in bars and clubs attempting to sell you a multitude of salacious drinks, **** and services.

The men do not have it much better if you're from the working class. As an Aethini male, you will be expected to carry out hard physical labour serving the corporations and businesses that dominate the urban landscape. Debatably easier jobs such as retail service, table waiting and bar service work are usually closed to you as a working man, society at large favouring utilising your increased physical capability to conduct manual laborious tasks. The other option available to this class of men is to join the military. The Aeternan garisson is a dignified and well respected military, sporting advanced weaponry, state of the art tactics and some of the finest trained soldiers in the galaxy. You may even have the chance to fight alongside the terrifyingly effective battle mecha exclusive to the Aeternan military known as "Bastille Sentinels" or "Aeterna Sentinels".

Should you be lucky enough to be born into a more wealthy situation, you can enjoy life in a more sophisticated role such as an engineer, a pilot or a corporate branch operator. You may even land yourself an opportunity to conduct inter-planetary trade as a well-ranked member of a Aethini trade ship.
