Chapter 9 by Master Haug Master Haug

Does he even sleep that night?

Not very well

Damaskinos wakes up in pain, which will probably become a norm for a long time to come. To infuse elements into ones flesh, heal could not be used, since it would cause the elemental contamination in the wounds to disappear as it was a form of restauration magic. No, one needed to allow natural regeneration or have access to regenerate, which boosted natural healing rather than magically heal the wound, to take place as the elemental contamination ever increased in ones body.

It was a delicate balance, and one that necessitates being near an evolution or a class upgrade so one could acquire the elemental infusion as upgrade skills before their body gave out under the constant **** of the contaminating elemental energies. In this world one could only get new system skills when they changed under the system, either evolving or upgrading their class, but the things available to them varied based on what they had learned or done while leveling up. Leveling up also did not gave many benefits, it was more a measure of accumulated potential one could then spend when changing class/evolving. Ranking up made the next rank up more expensive, so it was a recommendation that one accumulated as many levels as possible to have a stronger rank up which would allow one to rank up into even better classes/evolutions. Of course, the temptation, or necessity, of ranking up as fast as a good option showed up can barely be contained.

Damaskinos sighted. His Life infusion granted him Greater Regeneration, allowing him to keep a balance between elemental contamination and his crippling need to be alive, and he was going to make maximum use of it before he ranked up, for as long as he could endure the pain. He streched, feeling the sting of the fire contamination scorch his flesh wherever it was accumulated. He walked to the entrance of the cave, and after casting invisibility took flight, feeling the bite as the fire element traveled around his body thought his blood.

He breathed the fresh mountain thinking he may have jumped the gun, but nothing could be done since he had 5 other available elements to infuse into his flesh. Maybe Carnachias was right, fuck meta gaming, he should have been a Barbarian. A smile crept on his face as he started seaching for the next prey for the Dark mad pervert goddess.

Does he find his mark?

More fun
