Not Quite Yet

Her face blushing red from embarrassment, Brandy gives a nervous laughter while answering. “I am sure we can find someway to help you.” She removes her hands from Roberts and quickly steps back, gives a short bow, “Excuse me.” And quickly leaves the room.

Once alone, Randy thinks to himself, I still got it.

Brandy, blushing, quickly makes her way to the office of the Mother Superior. Brandy takes a moment to catch her breath and gather her thoughts before knocking on the door. She soon hears a “come in” and opens the door. “Ah, Brandy. I assume our guest is awake?”

Giving a short bow before responding. “Yes Mother, he has woken up and seems that he shall make a full recovery.”

“Good, good, Take a seat.” Brandy takes a seat on a chair in front of the Mother Superior. “Now tell me my child, did you get a chance to find out why he was injured?”

“Yes, I did.”

Brandy tells the mother superior the story Robert told her, while leaving out a few embarrassing details.

Once the story is done, The Mother Superior has a thoughtful look on her face. But then she gives Brandy a smile. “I think this is a perfect opportunity for you Brandy.”

Confused, Brandy asks “I don’t understand? What do you mean?”

With a small laugh, the older woman continues. “Well, my dear child, that is simple. I was just thinking that you are a young lady now. It is about time that you go out and experience the world a bit. You are far too young to stay hidden in the church for the rest of your life.”

“Mother, you can’t be suggesting that I, leave…?” Just thinking about it caused Brandy to blush a bit as she thought about traveling with Robert, alone.

“Oh, it obviously wouldn’t be forever. Besides, I believe it would be a good experience for you. Go out into the world, have some adventures. Then you can come back in a few years all the wiser.”

Brandy was honestly shocked at what the Mother Superior was saying. “A few years! Surely you don’t’ expect Robert’s mission to take that long, do you?”

“No, not at all. Rather I expect that once you are out in the world you will want to see all that life has to offer.” Brandy is about to say something else, but she is cut off. “I won’t here another word. I have already informed the Quartermaster. Make sure to grab everything you need before leaving.”

“But…” She couldn’t be serious, could she?

“No buts young lady. Now go off and have fun!”

With that, Brandy was dismissed from the Mother Superior’s office. It seems she was completely serious. Brandy was expected to go on an adventure. No, scratch that. Mother Superior expected Brandy to be gone for YEARS! To get ‘wiser’.

“Well, nothing to be done about it…” Brandy had her orders. Resigned, she started heading to the quartermaster.

Soon she would be leaving with Robert, she would be alone with him as they traveled together.

Just thinking about it was enough to make her blush.
