Noob

Sylvia returned from the bathroom to find her friend still lying on the floor. She slowly approached her friend as if she was sneaking up on an agitated cat that was ready to pounce. Did I just hear her mutter something about Bruce sacrificing chickens in his basement?

“Hey” she said to her friend when she got close. She saw Jenny tense from her position but otherwise got no response. “You're being childish. Stop lying on the ground and please talk to me.”

Jenny slowly rose to her feet but didn't look at her. Jenny just stared at the floor and said “I'm mad at you.”

“Look, I'm sorry I threw that blue shell.” Sylvia apologized. “You know I'm not that good at games. Maybe I shouldn't have entered.”

That seemed to deflate Jenny's anger. “No, you did nothing wrong. I'm being silly. Constantly losing to Bruce just is really getting to me.”

Sylvia screamed in her head. Maybe you should just hurry up and confess then. I'm pretty sure you two are the only ones unaware that you like him. Instead of vocalizing these feelings she just asked “Are you ready to go yet? It's getting close to closing time and Gwen probably wants to clean up.”

“Nah. Can't leave yet. They still haven't given me my second place prize.” was Jenny's response. “You go on without me. I'll walk home to help blow of some steam. Now if you excuse me I have to go use the bathroom. I didn't go the whole tourney and then you beat me to it.”

“Oh. In that case you may have to wait a bit.” Sylvia said. “On my was back I saw Daisy headed in that direction.”

“What? Why didn't you say so sooner?” Jenny took off in the direction of the bathroom while Sylvia just shook her head at her energetic friend.

Leaving the store Sylvia looked over to the bus stop to see the bus already there. Lucky me. I don't have to wait this time. Rushing over to get on the bus before it leaves, Sylvia didn't even notice that the inside of the bus was completely dark. Stepping on the steps of the bus she suddenly found herself ascending the steps onto a stage instead.

Sally turned excitedly towards the new arrival and froze. “Hold on. Why are you alone?”

Confused by everything that was happening all Sylvia could manage to get was an “Excuse me?”

“Where's your friend? You were supposed to get on the bus to together and arrive as a pair.” Sally was majorly annoyed at this glitch in her plan. “You know what, just get in front of the mirror while I figure out what went wrong.”

Sylvia found jumped as a big mirror rolled across the stage to in front of her. Staring back at her was a girl she did not recognize.

“REALLY. MY CAREFULLY MADE PLANS WERE THROWN OFF BY POOR BLADDER MANAGMENT.” Sally was now beyond annoyed. “Fine. We'll just have to rush a bit to make up for lost time. You. Intro time”

“My name is Sylvia King and I'm 20 years old. I'm a college student and I've met Bruce many times at the Game Kingdom. I don't have any games of my own but I always love playing with others.”

“Good. Now with that out of the wa... hold on. Did you say your name was Sylvia?” asked Sally. Still stunned by everything happening Sylvia let out a timid “yes”.

“Did your parents hate you? Because according to some of the other hosts I've talked to Sylvia means idiot.” Flustered Sylvia stammered for a bit before getting out “Sylvia doesn't mean idiot. It's just a normal name.”

“Odd. Oh well, curiosity sated. On to your seat with you.” With that Sylvia found herself sitting in the row of chairs.

“Wait.” Bruce chimed in. “If Sylvia was meant to be part of a pair that could only mean one person. Surely your not talking about her.”

With her manic grin Sally declared “That's right master. I mean exactly who you think. Lets get her up here.”
