No one is ever ready

Upon initially hearing the voice in my head I thought I was going nuts, I believe I even said that out loud.

“You are not crazy my friend, I’m as real as you” the voice said. To which I replied, “you got a name buddy? Since we seem to be friends all of a sudden “. I was being my normal douchebag self.

“My name is Namtar , I am one of the first ten, and I’m almost as old as the universe itself”.

I figured fuck it, what do I have to lose, I might as well see where this goes. “Ok Namtar, so introductions out of the way, what’s the story?”. Namtar then started to lay out his version of events.

“In the beginning there was a vast nothingness, an empty universe filled with energy, let’s call this energy Chaos. Chaos was absolute, but it lacked sentience, it rampaged through the cosmos causing all manner of phenomena. The first 2 beings were created from such phenomena, and these beings were pure energy. This was The first instance in the universe that chaos was brought to order, and these two creatures of order are the seeds of which all life springs forth. After some eons these two beings learn to communicate with each other and take names to identify themselves. The male entity becomes Diabolos, and the female becomes Ki, and the two set out amongst the stars bringing order to the universe. Eventually Diabolos and Ki gather enough chaos energy to create eight more sentient entities, they label themselves the first ten and spread throughout the dimensions setting up the system we have in place today”.

“It all started as an experiment, for the ten were curious by nature, and there was no malicious intent in their make up. They created various life forms of different levels of energy, and when one of these creations died, its energy would return back to the first 10. They used this to gather life experiences and information, and this continues for countless millennia. After all that time the ten start to form opinions on what’s right and wrong, making changes to the system as they saw fit, with Diabolos and Ki having the final say since they were essentially the mother and father of all things”.

I was getting a little bored at this point so I prompted Namtar to get to the point, “hey buddy, for fucks sake you’re losing me here....just skip to the part that has something to do with me”.

So he continues, “ you were always the impatient one, my apologies. Where Ki was perfectly contented sitting back and being mother to the universe, Diabolos desired more. He decided he was gonna split up his own life energy into smaller life forms and send them out into the lowest tiers so that he may experience things for himself. Ki was totally against this idea, but since they were of equal power she couldn’t stop him. Neither could the others of the ten as they were exponentially weaker then the mother and father as well. So Diabolos divides himself and disappears, vowing to return someday after he has quenched his curiosity”.

“ It was immediately apparent after his departure that Ki was upset that her partner and lover had left her side. He was the yin to her yang, the darkness to her light, and with no one there strong enough to temper her whims or convince her otherwise, the mother began to spin out of control. A billion years pass by in a blink for Ki, and she decides that she no longer wants to share the seat of power with Diabolos or anyone else for that matter, so she sets in motion a plan to prevent that from ever happening. Diabolos had planned for his fragments to make their way up the tiers and reunite in paradise to be with his love again, but Ki had decided that no life forms would ever proceed past their current levels ever again. The others of the first ten objected vehemently, but were all ultimately destroyed by her immense power, or so she thought. In addition to this, Ki had figured out a way to siphon life energy from lower beings after ****, and prior to rebirth. With this She became more powerful and simultaneously kept any of Diabolos’ fragments from regaining their power, essentially killing two birds with one stone”.
